We walk-in to purchase the boat tickets without any hassle..In less than 10 minutes, we were told to board a bus which bring us to another place to take a boat ride. Hats are freely available from the scorching sun. The boat ride was fun and interesting. Experience of cruising through the long narrow canal & how hard & skillful the boatman tried to canoe against the current. Somebody dropped her hph into the river & the boatman tried to retrieve it but in vain. The scenery was not fasantic as there was really nothing to see because we were there at the wrong season.

We walked in and it was a short wait for the next ride! ~15mins. The ride is only in Japanese language but I still enjoyed it. The boat staff was entertaining and also sang some folk songs! Nice quiet chill vibes along the canals. Would have been nicer if the sakuras were in full bloom.

Our guide was very sweet and when he realized some of us didn't speak Japanese, he attempted to give the tour in English. He was very knowledgeable about the area around the moat as well as random trivia. He also sang old songs.

Located in Yanagawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture. The Yanagawa river cruise here has always been a famous attraction.
When I came to Kumamoto this time, I decided to drive here to try the famous Yanagawa river cruise.

For the ticket price:
The price for “water town Yanagawa sightseeing” is JPN 1,700 / per person.
Each boat can accommodate up to 20 people.

It was very comfortable throughout the whole river cruise. We came here in November, and although it was a bit cold, the warm sunshine just reduced the chill.

In addition, the boatman is also very humorous and will introduce the history, footprints, and stories of some famous people around Yanagawa to passengers throughout the journey. They will even sing some local folk songs to make everyone immersed in the experience.

The entire trip from the starting point to the end of the downstream journey takes about 30-40 minutes, and after taking the boat, you can also eat eel rice nearby. It’s a really enjoyable attraction.

It is recommended that you must come and experience it when you come to Yanagawa.

Very accommodating place even though my group was only four of us and we got there at 0400pm. The guide had a very nice singing voice and learning some basic japanese really does go a long way. Ticket was ¥1600 for an hour ride.

It was very nice and therapeutic. Recommend for anyone who wants to escape busy cities in Japan. The boat ride is 1 hour long. Even though you cannot understand the things guide explains the view and relaxation is worth every penny.

The 1:30 time slot was good, sunny and blue skies, but there were long lines for unagi, so we ate some to-go unagi musubi, which were nice and hot with lots of tare and a bit of takuan on the side. Talking off shoes before boarding was required, maybe because we sat inside kotatsu. We had a lovely young lady give our boat tour, she was very funny and very strong!

Fun experience. You can enjoy river cruise and a delicious “unagi seiro”; steamed eel with rice which is local style.

Recomended engineless boat ride!

Friendly boat tour guide, but didn't speak any English. The Japanese tourists seemed to enjoy his singing and explanations as he took us on a 50 minute tour. It was great.

Fun little adventure. Cost was about 15USD per person and it took an hr.

beautiful and enjoyable boat ride

Great experience, even with the rain. We were provided rain jackets, the leaders were great company and talked about the different spots along the river. A great way to spend an hour or so in Japan

It was a grey cloudy day but somehow the perfect weather for it. We were lucky to be in a boat of only 4. The guide even sang songs! What a pleasant surprise. Beautiful scenic and relaxing.

Very relaxing boat trip for around an hour along the famous Yanagawa River !

It really was a must do in Kyushu (and Japan in general), get transported back to the days of the gondola in this Japanese Venice!

Interesting history and good storytelling. Order lunch ahead to enjoy on the boat.

Absolutely an amazing and calm area to visit, and the river boat is the best way to get around the canals! Once you arrive at the destination there's great architecture to be explored!!
