One of the best meals in Fukuoka. We didn't try the tourist famous unagi don but opt for this local seafood market that also serves the seafood behind the shop. Seafood are all fresh and live from Ariake sea bay, including some exotic ones that never seen elsewhere.

We ordered a hermit crab tempura but this hermit crab, or shrimp don't live in a shell like other hermit crabs. Very good to pair with beer.

We also tried the alien fish and mud skipper sashimi combo, but honestly not for fainted heart due to the appearance, and the fish is still moving despite only left with bones. Felt so guilty. Taste wise not gamey, no particular taste but the texture is very firm and chewy, which is interesting.

Other set meals were decent too. Prices are very affordable for the qualit amd the other sashimi are thick and fresh.

Came at 10am. Tried all the exotic alien fish sashimi and the mantis prawn. I believe this is the only market that serves the exotic fishes from the Ariake Sea, do ask for Mutsugoro & warasubo. The shell fish in tempura was awesome ! So happy they have iwashi here as well. If you are not sure which of the specialty seafood to order, show them the review photos. Self service for hot matcha and there’s plenty of souvenirs to bring back. Most of the other restaurants in this area serves only unagi as it’s unagi town !

Nice sea aroma since you're eating next to a fish market. Ordered the unagi, it was apparently a good price. Otherwise very satisfied. The staff were accommodating to a non-Japanese speaker.

Last order for lunch is 2:30 pm. And the place closes at 3 pm. We managed to get take out and they are very delicious. Hope to come back next time we visit Yanagawa. Arigatou

Staff are super friendly (please use your Google translate) and the price is very reasonable.

Nice Unagi rice and worth the money spent. The sashimi don was good too. The waitress was helpful, though she doesn’t speak English.

Inexpensive and delicious meals suitable for foreign guests, with simple English for communication.

Fresh seafood cooked to order. The atmosphere is great. The restaurant is tucked behind the fish market, so if you see the fish market, you are in the right place. Just come inside and work your way to the person working the restaurant reception. They do not have English menus so you'll have to use a translation app. They have both traditional seating and Western seating.

Fantastic place! We had such a great meal, with many types of fishes which we have not encountered before. The mudskipper sashimi was an eye opener!

Service was good too, even though we can't speak Japanese. They were helpful and place was welcoming.

There are some special fish like mutugorou here, it's my first time to try it, difficult to find in other city.

Fresh ingredients, great food, friendly staff. They have their own small fish market adjacent to their restaurant. So everything guaranteed to be fresh. This is the place where you can try ariake sea catch. Go for the 3300ish complete set and you will not regret it.

Dont get intimidated by the looks of mutsugoro and especially warasubo, and the fact where they live in mudflat of ariake sea. In contrary, they taste really good, no smelly fishy taste, nor muddy hint. Furthermore i enjoyed their meat texture. For me personally, it taste and have texture comparable to fugu (blowfish), perhaps it is something to do with their living environment. My GF enjoy majakku shrimp and etsu fish (another unique ariake sea catch) which also included in the set meal.

Another thing, i also tried their male watari gani (blue crab). Its more on the firm side, than the watari gani I've tried in Ishikari, Hokkaido, which was mushy. I enjoyed ariake's more.

Another important thing, the staff is really nice, they offered me the several crabs, and let me choose by my self. After the lunch almost finish the gave me service of deepfried warasubo-mutsugoro bone, which great as drinking buddies.

Definitely will visit again anytime if i visit yanagawa again.

This place is amazing if you love trying out various delicious, fresh seafood in a cozy atmosphere you will be so happy here. We had fried hermit crab, squid with mayo, sashimi... I can recommend all of it. The prices are very acceptable, too. I had the feeling this is the kind of place where locals would visit, too and thought if I were a local I would be a regular customer.

Although we were 5 foreigners coming in without any warning the owner was very nice and helpful. Was definitely a good experience!

一品一品どれも美味しかったです‼刺身や寿司ネタも厚くて新鮮でした。
マジャクの唐揚げとエツ子チップスは珍しいだけでなく頼んでよかったと思うほどの品なので、是非頼んでほしい品。全身サクサクなので子供も喜んで食べていました。
定食自体は1300円前後から食べられますが、魅惑的な珍味をあれこれ頼みたくなるので予算多めに持ってくと良いかも？
メニュー数も多くリピしたくなるお店。
