Bates City BBQ

Really good barbecue with a work a day feel to it. Ribs were good. The ham and brisket were outstanding, good smoked taste. Definitely will be back! Worth the trip just for the fries!

One person working today at opening. He was so friendly and informative about our Thanksgiving order. Food was amazing, as always. Favorite bbq in the city! Thank you for always being consistent.

Passing through the area on a coast to coast drive, I got hungry at just the right time to look up great food in the area. I decided to go with Bates City BBQ. What a great decision that was. The service was quick, the employees where friendly, and the food? In a word, delicious. Well worth your time if you want some KC style BBQ. And it was quite affordable! I absolutely recommend this establishment!

Best BBQ! It's an old building and my family and I love it! Feels like home here, I hope they keep that feeling here forever. Personally love the brisket, burnt ends and you can never go there without getting fries. Plus, they have Pibb here! They also catered our wedding in 2021. Fabulous people!

Can be a little smoky inside from the BBQ. BUT it's fantastic I absolutely recommend it. The coleslaw is the bomb. Frys are everything people make them out to be. I've had most things on menu. Burnt end sandwiche hard to beat. Price is good for the quality you actually get some great food! The wood paneling on walls turns me off a tad but I didn't come there for that...

I had a mixed plate (ribs, ham, and brisket) with Cole slaw and fries for $15. Hard to beat that! All of it was good, and I'd go out of my way to come back!

Omg...hands down the best BBQ into the midwest. I would recommend the mixed plate. Everything is delicious though. The prices are reasonable, the serving size is more than enough for a full grown man. Make sure to get some beans to take home for late night snacks. Also the snickerdoodle cookies are out of this world. I would expect this quality of BBQ to come out of a five star dining establishment. I must say this BBQ slaps. Hands down 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Me and my wife are currently visiting family, and we're from south Florida. We're staying in Sedalia so we drove an hour to come out to Bates City BBQ. We both really enjoyed it, got the ribs and a burnt ends sandwich and fries. Spent around $33 and it was a lot of food. Really good quality, better than what I can get back home for sure. Looked better than all the BBQ places in Sedalia and it was closer than all the Kansas City restaurants. Definitely worth trying.

Looking for amazing food, fast service, and not expensive, look no farther. We had just left the firework shop and smelled bbq saw the signs and thought what the heck let’s try it. 5 pulled pork sandwiches, two sides of slaw, and a bag of fries, I was already walking back out to the van with food in hand before my husband had even let our dogs out. Amazed at prices and quality of food.

Hasn't changed in the 40 + years we gave been going. Best slab of ribs going! Fries are awesome fresh from the fryer goodness.

Great Bar B Q place in Bates City, Missouri. Highway 70 at Mile marker 31 near Kansas City. Outstanding beef brisket. Great burnt ends.

I was blown away by this place and was convinced I didn't like KC bbq. But I have changed my mind after this experience. I would recommend the ham and turkey personally. I will definitely stop by here again while in town.

If you like bar b que put this place in your top 3. If you've never ate here it's well worth the drive.

Passing through and craved some takeout barbecue. The size of pork barbecue sandwiches is huge. Two of us ate one sandwich and saved the other sandwich for the next day. French fries would have been better piping hot, but the quantity was again huge. Recommend!

I purchased ribs and beans to go. It was delicious. I sometimes forget about this place so I don't go here often. It is always worth the trip. The staff was pretty good too.
