We had a great experience at Black Bear Diner in Independence, Missouri! Our experience included being greeted when we walked in and a fantastic meal. 😊

Our waitress was an absolute very attentive, friendly, and always smiling. She made sure our waters were filled promptly and checked in on us just the right amount of times, ensuring we had everything we needed without being intrusive.

The food was outstanding! The service was great, and the ambiance of the diner is perfect for a casual meal with family or friends. It has that classic diner charm combined with a welcoming environment that makes you feel right at home.

I took my 12 year old son and he enjoyed his food and we'll definitely be back for more of their scrumptious offerings. I highly recommend Black Bear Diner. 👍👍

When it first opened, I looked at the reviews, and they were not👎 great
Today, my wife wanted to go to the Black Bear Dinner for her Mother's Day dinner 🍽
We only tried the breakfast dishes 😋 and believe me it was GREAT!!!
It's her new favorite restaurant at this point in time, and we can't wait to try the other dinners' dishes 🍽

PROs: Great location. Plenty of parking. Indoor seating. Large party with no wait time. Cadence, our waitress, was super friendly, attentive and patient with us. She was easy going and handled everything with great care. She gave stickers with our granddaughter's drinks. Food was great and served hot. Their business and service is for a great purpose.
CONs: The carpet dated the place.

Best breakfast, hands-down I've had in ages. Everything was delicious - the Pina Colada pancakes, the chicken fried steak omelet, the blackberry stuffed french toast, and the sweet cream waffle...omg! Soooo much flavor and hearty deliciousness. Great service as well - my coffee cup was never below half full. Just go here, you will not be disappointed!!! P.S... can't wait to try supper here!

Definitely a five in my book. we were seated immediately 57 seconds later the waitress came by took our drink order. The drinks were there in 62 seconds replaced our order and it took 12 minutes and 37 seconds to get our food. Posted a picture of what I ordered and it was more than worth the money. It came with a salad and a large biscuit before the meal came, which only took three minutes after placing our order to get that. Our server was Cadi, but it said cadence on the ticket. For such a young server, she was a pro. Great job all around. We’ll go back every time I drive through blue Springs Kansas City.

Anytime I eat here, this place never disappoints! Great service, delicious food, and you get a lot for your dollar! Also, the food is awesome from any part of the menu, breakfast-Dinner, and dessert to! We always enjoy the blackberry cobbler or pies. They have good hot sauce too.

Black Bear Diner was well worth the wait! The service was fast with a friendly atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious and portion sizes are HUGE! They also have a small gift shop area with cute pj's, blankets, books, gloves, tumblers, and stuffed bears.

Some Ohioans have found their new favorite restaurant while here in town for work! We took a bite of our cod and shrimp and had to sit back in the chair because it was so good. We’ve already planned our next visit and what we’re having. And we’ll definitely be back for breakfast. The service was excellent and our waitress Cheryl was phenomenal! Returned for breakfast and and all we can say is WOW!!! Best breakfast I’ve had by far since traveling for work.

The portions are respectfully generous. The food is seasoned. The prices are pretty modest. Service has been excellent each recent visit, thanks to Cheyenne and LaTonya!

The menu is almost too big. I especially love the breakfast all-day menu!!!

This is my second time at this restaurant and this might be one of my favorite new go-to spots in the area! They serve breakfast all day and have a little bit of everything on their menu! We ordered Chicken Fried steak with mashed potatoes and cheesy grits, As well as the “bear” breakfast combo with eggs, French toast, sausage, and a side of hash browns. Both platters were massive with more than enough portions. The french toast were soft, perfect texture and the chicken fried steak was really good as well. The price was fair coming in at $38 with all the food. I would definitely recommend this place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

We went here before the hockey game and it was busy but they got us seated about 30 minutes later. The menu was huge with breakfast all day! The portions were so big I couldn’t eat all of my omelet. They also have an all you can eat fish meal. The waiter was great and we will absolutely be back! I really want to try a pastry next time!

We stopped by here while on vacation and it did not disappoint. We came in close to closing, but you would not have known. Our waitress was awesome and the food was great. It’s only our second time eating at a Black Bear and both have been great experiences. Would recommend if in the area.

I loved the food and it came out pretty fast! I really liked the chicken sausage and it felt like a lot of food for the price. My partner didn’t enjoy their pancake as much, they thought it tasted not homemade - so it just depends on what you get!

We were there late, and the food was still great! It was fresh and reasonably fast. The service was really good for a chain. We will go back

My local go to breakfast spot! If we have out of town visitors this is were we eat for a clean, friendly, delicious meal. The portions are huge and my kids love this place too. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Never pushy or rush you. Also they have never burnt or shorted me on my hash browns which I am forever grateful for lol.

Great breakfast, lunch. Wifey had biscuits and gravy, I had a burger. They were both very good.

Had enough to have a nice breakfast for wifey tomorrow. Waitress offered extra side gravy. For us, one biscuit was enough they are large and tasty.

Also offered to go drinks, much appreciated.

Great location! The service was very good. The food was good and the prices are very reasonable.
I like that you can order anything on the menu. So if it's lunch or dinner and you are craving breakfast....well, order you some pancakes, waffles,sausage, and bacon. Here you can have breakfast anytime! The lunch and dinner menu has a nice selection for you. The only downer is the fact that you can't order any baked potatoes before 4 p.m., and fried fish with hushpuppies are only served on Fridays.
Overall, I highly suggest you try the food at Black Bear Diner.

Black bear diner is great! We like almost everything we have ordered. In a time when prices keep increasing while portion sizes keep decreasing it's nice to eat at a place where portion sizes have remained the same.

The first time my family & I ever went to a Black Bear Diner restaurant was back in April 2021, and we went to the location in Independence, Missouri and also the Black Bear Diner location in St. Charles, Missouri too. The concept of Black Bear Diner is homestyle-cooked and old-fashioned comfort foods served in a country & rural themed restaurant with "over-the-top bear paraphernalia." Customers will see murals and artwork with nature and bears that are created for every single Black Bear Diner restaurant across the United States of America. Customers will also see a bakery counter with freshly baked pies, shelves with restaurant apparel that is related to and resembles the Black Bear, and a jukebox like any other diner. Black Bear Diner has a lunch counter with bear-shaped chairs because most diner businesses have lunch counters with diner stools.

The menu at Black Bear Diner has a wide variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Since the word “diner” is in the restaurant chain’s name, Black Bear Diner offers family meals such as breakfast, burgers, salads, and ice cream milkshakes. Breakfast at Black Bear Diner is served ALL DAY no matter what time of day it is at their restaurants. When me and my dad first went to Black Bear Diner in Independence, Missouri, we both had the BIGFOOT Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs breakfast platter and by the time me and my father had our bellies stuffed, we asked for takeout containers because we were not able to finish our meals inside the restaurant. However, we did finish some of our meals when we returned home but it was later in the day. Me and my father were satisfied with our food, and we were also impressed with Black Bear Diner’s service.

If customers are looking for a homestyle family restaurant with its interior decorated with country and rural area themed vibes, I would recommend Black Bear Diner for its satisfying and generous portions for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even dessert. I would also say that Black Bear Diner is likely to make its customers feel like they are almost somewhere in the countryside.

If there were 10 stars I would give this restaurant all 10. Ask for Cheyenne she’s is by far the best wait staff person I have ever had help me in a restaurant. She has a great personality, she was attentive, we never needed to look for her or ask where out waitress was.

Then there was the food. AMAZING! Everything Cheyenne suggested was spot on. Ask her and she will tell you the best dishes, and she didn’t lie.
We were in town for my son’s graduation (we are from MD) he graduated from Missouri Valley College, and we really wanted something nice and good. The restaurant was clean and comfortable, a nice size and the tables were nicely spaced.

Just an amazing experience all around!
