Very interesting. Example soda fountain, example school room, and a big model railroad. And is free! Donations excepted tho. We thought it was well worth the visit.

My husband and I stopped here on our Sunday afternoon drive and were pleasantly surprised by this little gem in Ottawa. We loved this museum and would recommend this as a great little “Day Trip” / “Sunday Drive” excursion. There’s a lot of great historical Kansas related information and awesome displays on second floor. We will definitely be back to see the next rotating exhibit on the main level.

Place was amazing. Took my grandkids. Something for everybody. They loved the model train room, doll house, and school room best.

A very well-maintained and very well-kept museum that properly documents local history of the railroads and Ottawa in general.

Great rooms of relics set up to bring you back to the time it was a depot. Interesting to see the flood gates and learn a lot of Ottawa history.

We went to see the Smithsonian exhibit Voices and Votes, Democracy in America. Very interesting and interactive exhibit. And the museum itself is great—it has so much to see. And it’s free!

I came to the museum without knowing anything about it besides they have a new NPS passport stamp. I'm a total museum nerd and I was blown away by the high quality of this small town museum. Multiple exhibits on Native Americans of Kansas, staged rooms from different time periods, and an interactive full-room model train. The museum covered several eras and notable events in the county, describing with an unflinching tone both the good and the bad.
I'll definitely be back to attend special events. It was 100% worth the drive from Kansas City.

I took my son here today after picking him up from school just as a last minute fun activity to get us out of the house. It was very inexpensive, very informative, and my son loved all of the artifacts they had! His favorite part though was the huge model train set they had! The customer service was also absolutely amazing! They were so helpful and informative!

My wife and I drove from the Haysville/Wichita area for a fun day trip visit to this museum. We really enjoyed it and it was a wonderful scenic drive to the museum from Wichita. There were a lot of interesting things to see inside the museum. I love the map on the floor. It’s definitely worth a visit.

The first floor exhibit changes periodically, so you can count on seeing something different while you're there. The model trains are cool to watch going around the little town-sure to fascinate the kids! My favorite room is the school room with all the old desks.

There is an original lithograph exhibit being shown there currently that is amazing. The young lady who was working last Sunday was well informed and passionate about the museum. We found there was much more to see than expected.

Nice museum, great model train layout. We expected to see something about the rail trails, but it was all about trains.
