taxes and assessments are out of control at the county level. harrison county ranks 66 out of 100 counties where 1 is best for taxed rate per $1,000 taxable value. property taxes in iowa are 10th highest in the nation. harrison county also kept the mental health funds now picked up by the state of iowa of .27643 per $1,000. It was 1 of 48 counties that did not lower your tax rates when they could have. Iowa had a 41.2% increase in property tax receipts from 2010 to 2020. mine mostly went up the last couple of years but i couldn't find stats on that increase.
