Winnebago Mansion Museum

The Charles J. Thompson mansion, built in 1899, is a historic landmark in Forest City. It was acquired by the Winnebago Historical Society in 1977 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

The Winnebago Historical Society does a lot of work to preserve our local history and make it available to others. Thanks to everyone involved

A very interesting place to visit!!! The tour guides are so very knowledgeable, valuable, and special!! We'll come back again soon!! (Even though we're 3.25 hours away)

Great reat

We drove here because we LOVE historical sites. All this signs on the building and everything online said it was open. It was not. No one was there all the doors were locked. Even the huge red sign in the front yard said it was open. It was really disappointing. I understand sometimes business hours have to change. But there were TWO seperate signs up saying you are open. Especially a LARGE red sign in the front on the manicured lawn. With the open hours. But absolutely no one was there.

Came on a Sunday at 2pm- no one there - doors locked up tight. Very disappointing!
