Love the classic ambiance. Old mismatch chairs, amazing view, binoculars at all tables. Looking for healthy fare? We got the cold smoked fish plate. We also got deep fried fish that was literally caught and cut within moments of deep frying. Definitely a destination. Find it love it.

Cool and unique. Enjoyable visit with decent bar style food. Burger was good, like a diner. Steak sandwich wasn't bad, like a chopped steak. But, the sausage and smoked kraut was amazing! Highly recommend this order, plus a few Hamm's to wash it down. Note -- CASH ONLY.

The food was delicious and affordable with a great view! Need I say anymore?! Really cool vibe, the staff was very sweet and the gentleman even gave us recommendations on places my boyfriend and I could stop at on our drive through Iowa! We both had the channel fish sandwich and it was SO fresh and delicious. Definitely get a side of fries because those were fantastic too. I also have no idea how they pickle their pickles (haha!) But you get a tiny piece of what looks like a pickle with your meal and it tastes like fresh watermelon but looks like a pickle. Crazy! Enjoy your meal and drink with a beautiful view of the Mississippi River with lots of pelicans!

A very special, one of a kind place, just amazing. It's the perfect spot on the river to watch the world go by, and the homemade food happens to be great too. BBQ rib sandwich, mashed potatoes, calico veggies, and cheese curds were all great. Vintage maritime decor, laid back atmosphere, friendly staff. Mike the owner engaged everyone, asking how the food was and if they needed anything. An honest and kind-hearted person, he really made the experience perfect. Only open May - October. Closing for the season soon I heard, so get there while you can.

Fish Shack is a unique treasure. The food was fantastic, the best fish I’ve had in a long time. The atmosphere is inviting and unpretentious. The owner was funny and engaging. This is a must stop! And will be a regular stop for me when I’m in the area.

The Fish Shack was excellent!! Great food, cold beer and the view of the lock and dam is so wonderful!! Food is made from scratch and service was quick and friendly! A definite delicious stop when on the Great River Road!!

A wonderful little gem that you might miss if you don't where to look for it. Mike and the gals were great, the food was amazing and we'll definitely be going back again soon! Beautiful and relaxing view of the river as well.

The Fish Shack is a must if you are in Guttenberg. It's right behind the public restrooms on the river. There are nice stairs down to the location. Kind, friendly service and awesome fish and shrimp. I am in Guttenberg all the time and it was my first time there but it will not be my last. Great, unique location and idea.

Great experience! Really enjoyed the proprietor! Very welcoming and enjoyed the conversation. Great sense of humor. Good simple fresh food. Highly recommend visiting! We were fortunate that they were open. Closing soon for the season.

Best fish ever! Plan on walking down the bank of the Mississippi River but it's worth all the steps. Be sure to check when they are open.
Everything is homemade & worth the drive

I don't know why more business owners here and there along this beautiful part of the country, this stretch of the Mississippi, don't try and do what the owner of this establishment does. I absolutely love this place, my #1 gotta stop at/go-to when I am in the area.
Even if they did though, I'd just keep coming back here first.

Lunch was great ! Group of 9 and everyone was pleased with their meals . I had the cod dinner with peach beans and side of creamy cucumber. Very good meal. East to miss as it’s below the park . Walk towards the river to see the restaurant .

Cute little hidden gem! The owner is a delight. The cod sandwich tasted so fresh with the perfect amount of breading. Tater tots were also yummy. Definitely worth trying it out! *cash only*

The Fish Shack is a little old place where you can get together with tasty food and eclectic decor. The Guttenburger is incredible; a loose meat sandwich that is half ground beef and half pork sausage, with pimento olives (wierd but actually really works) in a tangy BBQ sauce. They are cash only, but that's okay they're happy to let you get to an atm after eating.

The owners are such great people, wonderful couple. The best fish and sides I have had in a loooooong time!

If you're looking for something classy with big portions - choose another spot. But if you want friendly, fun service and good, fresh food with solid flavor and is clearly homemade, stop in!

Excellent food, friendly staff. Vinegar pie was delicious as was the kneffle. Can't wait to return!! 😋😋😋
