Looking for a nice place to get lunch and the welcome center recommendation did not disappoint! A cute little cafe with amazing pie as well as local crafts and food. A must go!

My favorite place to come for lunch when I visit my parents. Jane makes a beautiful salad (upon request) and her peach pie is amazing!!! So worth every calorie.

A very homely cafe run by an elderly couple. The menu is limited, but the food tasted great. The corned beef sandwich with saukraut was good. The chilli they had that day was good too, just like home made.
The ambience is very cozy. This place looks like a restaurant from the Hallmark movies.

Had the egg salad sandwich (ash Wednesday) and potato salad with pecan pie to top it off. Lots of locals eating here which is a good sign. I would recommend Picket Fence Cafe for its quaint atmosphere, caring staff and wonderful lunch.

I stopped in here while in town for a work trip based on the great reviews. I understand why! I had some delicious mushroom soup, corned beef sandwich, and amazing triple berry pie. Highly recommended!

Delightful stop for lunch. Pie was a plus. Table service or to go from an old style service counter. Good selection of local, German variation s on traditional sandwiches. Pie sells out, so order early! No outdoor seating. Includes shop with local foods and wine. We got some Iowa maple syrup. Open til 4, but food service stops at 2:30 on Saturday.

We are driving to eat at our favorite cafe in all Northeast Iowa! The food is homemade, delicious, and Jane’s pie is the absolute best! Hurry there before they close near the of February after 24 years of delicious food and wonderful community service. We send heartfelt wishes ❤for a happy retirement! You will be missed!

Do yourself a favor. When you’re driving up the Mississippi, stop here and grab yourself an award winning slice of berry pie, get it to go and go sit a bench facing the river. You won’t regret it.

Very reasonably priced, and so tasty! I got a sandwich last time I went here, and a slice of coconut cream pie, now I wanna try every sandwich on the menu. If you're looking for some good baked beans too, this spots got some famously loved beans. 10/10 will return.

Everything is homemade and tasty! Also at good prices! Old school river town atmosphere!

Great food, fantastic friendly service!! Driving through on our way from the Twin Cities to Dubuque. We like to pass through small, older towns. Decided a snack would be good when we spotted the Picket Fence. The building is a charmer! Located on the Great River Road and worth a stop!!!

My wife and I stopped in last Saturday. The food was awesome. Sandwiches were stunning. Each ingredient was perfectly matched. And then there's the pie! Make sure to save room for a slice. Some of the best pie I've ever had. We will visit here again!

The grilled ham sandwich was delicious. We got the triple berry pie for dessert with ice cream and it was just as delicious and homemade! Quant atmosphere in a historic building along the river. Prices were reasonable.

Had lunch at The Picket Fence with 10 other ladies today. The atmosphere is cozy and pleasant. The food was excellent, including the pie. The service was also excellent. Our server did a great job of taking and delivering our orders and our glasses or cups were always full. 5 stars all around!

What a great place to eat. Loved our waiter, so sweet and kind! You have to get a piece of pie if your going to eat here! The peach pie was AMAZING! The food is exceptionally good!;) Everything is fresh and homemade.

Love this place, we get a box lunch and sit in the park and watch the tug boats go by on the Mississippi River. The food is great and the homemade pie doesn't disappoint. The chicken salad sandwich and the Reuben sandwich are our favorites along with triple Berry and apple Carmel crunch pie. The sausage and other meats in the case are great to take home

On a getaway we lucked into finding The Picket Fence Cafe. The historic, unique building drew us in and the food did not disappoint in the slightest. We had homemade chicken salad on homemade bread with German potato salad--just delicious. We topped off our meal with a piece of strawberry rhubarb pie that was better than my own! Jane, the owner, makes all the pies and gave us excellent service. I highly recommend finding your way to this quaint place with delicious food.

Chicken salad and pulled pork with slaw sandwiches were outstanding. Variety of sides available including calico beans and hot German potato salad. Ice tea was brewed. Both fruit and cream pies were wonderful.

We eat at Picket Fence when ever we come to town! We love the chicken salad, paninis and calico beans! And we always save room for a piece of pie! The meat market is great too. We enjoy all the flavors of bratwurst.

Great place to stop for lunch! Good sandwiches and sides, reasonable price, but don't leave without trying the pie! Wowzer ! Warm triple berry pie with ice cream? Oh, yea!
