Went here on Christmas Eve and was so pleasantly surprised with how nice the inside was along with how nice the staff were. Definitely recommend going if you're in the area and hungry, thirsty, need to fill up with gas, or need something from the boutique. Tobie's seems to have it all!

This is obviously a popular place, and it's easy to see why. The restaurant itself is clean and well-appointed, the food is good and reasonably priced, and the staff are pleasant and helpful. I'm a bit surprised that they aren't open a little earlier in the mornings, but that's life. It made a convenient halfway-point stop on our drive from the Twin Cities to Duluth, and it was a great breakfast place. Their caramel rolls are no joke - don't miss them.

Absolutely the BEST fried cinnamon rolls I’ve ever had!!! The ones with the nuts on top. I’ve been trying for years to find a donut that resembled the one the of a bakery I worked at when I was in high school. 13 years later I’ve finally found it!!!! But that’s not why you should stop. You should stop because it is absolutely the best place to stop on the way between Duluth and the twin cities. The restaurant connected to the bakery is also a must try for breakfast. My dad said they have the best burgers but the breakfast was so great!!! Also the gift shop is just filled with unique stuff. I’d love it more but I will say it’s a bit overpriced. Ok a lot over priced, but that’s fine, just spend your money on the donuts and rolls!!!!

Only a hour & 15 min drive from Mpls. & St. Paul, Tobie's Restaurant is the place to go to get out of the city.
Good food with a decent & friendly atmosphere!
It is a great halfway point between Minneapolis-Saint Paul to Duluth!
Make a pit stop here while you're traveling, and you won't to be disappointed!
Stop by their restaurant for some American cuisine/home cooking.
And find out why their bakery is so well known!
Any of the stuff I encountered were always friendly, engaging & helpful!
No one stares at you like you were an Alien from a different planet.. (some customers did, but that's their problem!)
Whenever you feel like leaving the city, for a day Trip? Make sure you take the time to stop at Tobie's!
They also offer:
Car Wash.
Gas.
Ice cream (mini) shoppe.
Caribou coffee.

Just what you need between the cities and Duluth up north... Tobies is famous for baked goods, but they did alright with the walley sandwich too.

We chose this restaurant for my birthday meal this year and we will definitely go back. It's rare I actually leave an all 5 star review. We were seated very quickly and had a table near the bar. It was quiet! Our waiter was amazing! Super friendly, checked on us frequently and gave us great service. Our food came very quickly and was delicious! Thank you for making my birthday meal a memorable one!

Always love coming here! The last time we were there, we had the server named Kyle he was very prompt, friendly, and very accommodating. We were one of two families in the restaurant on a Monday night around 8:00 p.m. food was fast, and really really good! The atmosphere is a darker quieter place which I prefer over the cafe area by the bakery that they used to have as a seating area but now is a gift shop. Great place to take your family to have a great meal

Great bakery on the way up north.

Overall they definitely are the best at baked goods!

Food here is alright. I would call it a classic American breakfast place

Staff here we're amazing and very friendly

Recommend getting the donuts here, they are very good. Would love to see them try a mochi donut at some point haha.

Would highly recommend if you're in the area / on the way up north

Jalapeno cheese curds were pretty good. Would recommend

Hash browns were pretty mid, no seasoning wouldn't recommend.

Canadian breakfast sandwich was pretty yummy, classic sandwich tastes exactly as the menu describes

Cinnamon roll French toast was just ok, decent if you're looking for a sweet option.

Love this gem of a bakery we found while camping in the area and will make it our stop when in the future. Rhubarb walnut bread was great, English muffins are the best we've had and went back for more but the selection was slim by then! Cinnamon raisin bread yummy and will make great french toast!

I heard a lot about Tobie’s and this was my first hand experience trying during my recent visit to Duluth. It was perfect midstop on my drive route from minneapolis towards Duluth. Where i indulged myslef in savory cinnamon rolls, pecan pie and coffee. It was awesome and lived to its reputation. I was so hungry i ate the whole dessert myslef. Tobes serve their special brewed coffee, i had picked mine from caribou at filling station next door. Overall i loved the place, it was full of people and staff was very nice and courteous. They have restrooms as well and souvinier shop attached to the bakery section.

A huge selection of goodies. Freshly baked goodies everyday. Huge caramel rolls, huge donuts in the bakery. The restaurant has great options as well. Great for on the road goodies or for dining in.

Local legend for baked goods (especially caramel and cinnamon rolls) and half-way point between Duluth & Minneapolis.

It’s almost always busy, but they serve people quickly at the counter as well as in the dining area.

Full menu of Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Big selection of baked goods, breads, pies etc to take home with you.

Servers are great, friendly and efficient. Very reasonable prices especially given nearly everything is homemade.

Tobie’s is a must visit when you are driving through the area. This is a place we stop every year when driving up to Northern Minnesota and it never disappoints. You simply cannot go wrong with any of their donuts, whether it be a Long John, their Famous Caramel Rolls, Cake Donuts, Apple Fritter, Muffins or their classic glazed donut. Highly recommend! 🍩

You know what...here's the deal: Tobie's is *actually* good. There's a lot of hype, so I was skeptical. But this is a bakery that knows its baked goods. Still, my favorite is their French silk pie (not sure if that's the actual title). It's in the fridgey area on the left side of the bakery bar. My sister likes the donuts and muffins. My mom loved her slice of cherry pie. And my dad found the Christmastime fruitcake to have a unique flavor, which he later researched to discover that it is a very Czech fruitcake (circa 1789) that gets its flavor from a "honey-apricot-brandy-glaze." (This is on the Tobie's website). The Tobie's atmosphere can be chaotic (because of the hype), which could be fun or upsetting depending on the mood you are in.

Tobies Tavern, the restaurant portion, on the end. I haven't been here in years. We were here Memorial Day 2021. They seated us on the bar /pull tab side, which is cooler in temperature, so be aware. Full menu. I had 2 eggs, bacon and subbed caramel roll for toast (for an extra $1) so $9.95.and my husband had 2 eggs, bacon, subbed French fries for hash browns, and toast. Very quick service considering it was Memorial Day. Caramel rolls were very fresh!

Stopped in for late dinner on our way Up North...pleasantly surprised we had great service! It didn't take long to get our good. The German rueban sandwich was very good and my coconut shrimp was excellent! Then we had to check out the bakery...yummy!

FANTASTIC. Can’t ask for a better place to stop while on the road. They have a bakery counter to pick up a treat and get back on the road OR they have a delicious restaurant if you have a bit more time. I can only speak for the breakfast but it’s pretty amazing.
