Had to stop by this place because we heard kids at Elephant Rock and Johnson Shut in asking their parents if and when they are going to "The candy store". It was also suggested to us by our host at the Plain and Fancy bed and breakfast. It was a great experience and a trip down memory lane. I highly suggest stopping by when in the area. Try their ice cream it's wonderful.

Wow! 1 pound of fresh coffee bean is about $20? Is this about right? I purchased not long ago this year.

Beautiful old 1909 building. Some original wood fixtures. Antiques upstairs. Downstairs they have candy, icecream, soda, fudge, coffee, etc. I got a Peanut butter frappe. Soooo delicious. The coffee is really good too.

Great little piece of Americana still thriving in rural Missouri.
Stopped in with a small group of motorcycles while out for a scenic ride one Saturday afternoon, and the staff were all smiles (despite the terrible jokes some of us had for them). Loved the look and feel of the old store, with all of the nostalgia on display, and the hand dipped ice cream was amazing!
If you're ever nearby, I highly suggest the detour; you won't be disappointed.

Love this place. Such a cute little shop with lots of different goodies inside! Candy galore on the lower level, as well as ice cream, and baked goods. Some local items as well. The top level is all antiques for sale. Every time I have been there I have had a good experience. The employees are friendly, the store is clean, and the prices are fair for what you are getting.

This is a great place! Totally unexpected amazing atmosphere. A gem hidden in plane sight. We enjoyed some handmade icecream after spending the day at Elephant Rock state park.

Me and my family drove an hour and a half for what I was told was an ice cream shop. It turned out to be much more then that, A whole experience. Definitely worth the drive. If you are into antiques the entire store is just full of them. Not to mentions the icecream was so good I wouldn’t be surprised if they had a real cow siting in the back. Wasn’t to pricey either for how much they gave me. 10/10 would go back

This place is super neat, they have a huge assortment of candy and snacks. They have a little section that does hand dipped ice cream and coffee drinks. The ice cream is real good in either the waffle cones or the normal sugar cone or their child’s shooter size cone. Awesome selection of flavors you normally do not see at other places.

Best ice cream, other than my dad’s and grandpa’s homemade, I’ve ever eaten. No joke. The store itself is a journey back in time with trinkets and Knick knacks from days gone by which go a long ways to show how much stays the same…our cravings for sweet treats! Candies, coffee, ice cream, fudge, cookies! Get some!

This place is just amazing. Better give yourself at least an hour if you go. 3 if you want to take your time. And that's just the mercantile!! Worth driving and hour and 40 minutes a few times a year for us. Fantastic little town with lots to see too. Great food at every turn.

What’s not to love about this place! Ice cream and coffee shops and antiques all in one store plus a candy store with fudge. Everything is so good. The place is full of interesting items to look at. They even have a small BBQ seasoning area for the men.

Best handmade ice cream, giant candy selection, truffles, coffee bar, antiques, locally made gift items. Personally highly recommend both peach pie and gooey butter cake ice cream flavors, family members report coffee flavor is basically the best ever. Antiques on second floor in both a small room and around the open air balcony circling the whole inside. Place is decorated as an old fashioned general store with lots to look at on every wall. Friendly staff, small but clean bathrooms. Great hot dog joint next door with outdoor seating. Only bad part is parking. Street parallel parking mostly on the row of businesses with a few spots on side streets.

The best candy selection in the area. Amazing store, antiques and collectibles as well as small batch freshly made ice cream and coffee. Good selection of tea also.
