El Taxqueno

Went here on my lunch break last night, and the lady at the front was the sweetest. I already planned to write a review because of how amiable she was, and then I saw this little sticker on my plate.
She answered all of my questions and was very attentive. I got the Enchiladas George, which I've never had before, and it was delicious. They were fast and it was fresh. I ordered it to go, so I didn't really look throughout the restaurant, but it looked more spacious on the inside and they played different music from what you typically hear. Next time I want to try their juice!

Service was excellent. Keep in mind, this is a small place and it may be a bit slower at busy times. Food is better & more interesting than your typical Mexican/ South American restaurant. Menu is excellent with a wide variety of choices. About a min away from the highway, so it's an easy stop during transit (*not fast-food). For some authentic South of the border food, it's worth the extra 20min drive from Chattanooga.

Stopped in at an odd time (3 PM) as it was a short walk from an AirBNB we were staying at. I ordered three tacos al pastor with onions and cilantro (one of my favorite tacos), they were very quick and staff was friendly. The tacos were very good, their hottest salsa was moderately hot with good flavor. If I lived in this part of Chattanooga this would probably be a regular go-to for me.

Amazing food and service, so friendly people and the food was AMAZING. Better than any other Mexican restaurant around. 👍

Went here for easy dinner with family. The lady that worked there was so sweet and attentive. Everything we had was very good! We had the fajita burrito with steak-it was massive full of steak peppers onions and tomatoes and covered in white cheese dip, Verde enchiladas with avacodo and salad. Kids had crunchy beef tacos and chicken tenders with fries-both were fresh and tasty. The salsa (red and green) were both fresh and homemade.

Note this place is alcohol free but offers fresh juices, smoothies, and milkshakes.

If you want great tasting food. Family run and family recipes, do not miss this place. We were impressed with the salsa selection, tacos, and overall service. We won't miss this spot anytime we are in the area!!!

Wow! This was incredible. We are from out of town and found El Taxqueno through Google and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed! Our two kids devoured their plates, and our fajitas for two was HUGE and so delicious. The mango juice was also not to be missed. My kids said they want to eat there tomorrow too. Definitely give this place a try if you haven't yet.

This is the place to go in Chattanooga for authentic Mexican food. Oh my, chips,salsa,and all entries are homemade. Add the spicy green sauce and you will have a great experience. Owners are warm and friendly. We are so coming back.

I was a tad worried because we stopped by and it was empty and the building wasn’t nice looking but we gave it a chance and we’re glad we did. Super friendly waitress, clean, and delicious authentic tasting food.

employees were so so kind and did so much to ensure our comfort and happiness. there are so many delicious vegetarian options for those who have dietary restrictions, as well as fresh squeezed (very healthy and simultaneously yummy) juices. this place is truly a hidden gem, and if i lived closer to it i would surely come back often.

First time here, and was very impressed with the service! Food was seasoned well served hot and fresh. Restaurant was very clean! We will be back.

I was not expecting to find fabulous Mexican food in the mountains of Tennessee. But I did. Taxqueno Mexican restaurant in Lookout Valley is not fancy to look at, but the food — and fresh juices — are well worth a visit. The salsa was served cold, and it was fresh and zingy. Nothing at all bitter or bland. The ground beef burrito was simple: just flavorful beef and white cheese sauce poured over the flour shell. The absence of tomato and lettuce was not an issue. The beef was perfectly tasty without it. I also liked that it was not served with beans and rice. The chips and salsa, burrito and my fresh juice were filling enough. As for the juice, I got the spicy pineapple juice. It contained pineapple, carrot, orange and ginger. It was blended fresh for me, not frozen. The menu has a wide selection of fresh juices and smoothies. My server was very friendly, and she helped me with my Spanish when I told her I wanted to practice. The tables and interior were nothing fancy. The bathroom was small but clean. There was ample parking. I will definitely return to this place when I am in town. It was a treat!

Don't let the outside appearance (or inside) fool you. It's a hole in the wall but the food is excellent. Not a large menu but it's legit Mexican. I got a mix of tacos and my wife got the ceviche. It was all excellent. We got all of that plus chips and rice for about $22. The service was outstanding. Our server was the sweetest and most attentive server. We never had to ask for anything. She was all over it. The owner (I'm assuming) also came to check up on us. We'll definitely be back for a cheap, casual, and comfortable meal.

The place was recommended from the hotel we were staying at. It didn't disappoint, food was great! I had the supreme burrito and would get it again.

We loved this little place. The tacos were so good and the service very helpful and friendly. They fry the tortilla chips when you order.

The nurse authentic mexican restaurant in Chattanooga. The food is incredible, the service was fast, very nice, and I'll definitely be back because of how well they took care of me. Oh and the portions are huge!

We started with a fresh made guacamole which was very good. The chips and salsa were also very good, with just the right hint of heat.

For entrees, I ordered the enchilada Supreme and my wife ordered the taco bowl with beef, which she was very pleased with. My entrée was amazing, some of the best I've ever had.

Finally I ordered a berry smoothie to go. The server stated they were out of some of the berries so I asked her to suggest a flavor. She recommended a mango banana strawberry and it was AMAZING! Fresh ingredients, not frozen.

In closing, if we were local, I would probably eat here several times a week. I'll have to settle for the next time we are passing through.

Amazing food! Even better service. I highly recommend this place to all my fellow Covenant Truck drivers. I think the owners should come up the road and pass some menus at the Covenant Building. O, and the fresh spicy squeezed juice, my mouth is watering just thinking about it🤤
