Great little park next to downtown Sandstone. We were visiting my dad from out of state and were impressed by this small yet diverse park. Very accessible yet it feels far removed. Repelling, hiking trails, picnic's,camping, two bridge tressels( which some girls were playing on lol) fishing right on the Kettle river. We will be back when we visit again.

A really beautiful park that's at the bank of Kettle river. The trails are well maintained (unpaved though). The river is easily accessible and a great place to chill out. There is a small walkway among the bushes to walk along the river from the main parkimg lot (on the left as you enter the park) to go to the section where there is a small rapids formation. Some of the visitors were using tubes to slide along the rapids and enjoy the flow of the river (slower and not gushing flow). If you are visiting Big Spring falls, please definitely make it a point to spend a few hours here. Camping spots are also avaliable.

We stopped here on our way from Banning State Park. Cool to visit although not so much to do or see.

This was such a hidden treasure! Beautiful trails, cliffs, and right next to the river. It was a great spot for a hike or for some rock climbing.

This park had real nice and cool walking trails. It was beautiful. Some people were rock climbing. Fishing from shore. There were also picnic tables all around.

Great place to visit for rock and ice climbing in an old Sandstone quarry. The Minnesota Climbers Association maintains crag bolts, hangers, and ice. Local towns people are welcoming an have good places to get a bite to eat.

First beautiful scenery. The section by state highway 123 and the bridge that crosses the Kettle River is a historic piece of Sandstone. Camping passes are available at the local gas station next to the freeway. Great spots to fish. Lots to explore and hiking trails that run north and south through the park following the river. Picnic locations and boat launches. Just all around a beautiful park.

Fantastic geology, history, climbing, and camping!!!

The old quarry sites have tunnels through rocks you can climb around in. There's great climbing there, especially ice climbing, Old structures make the history come alive. It connects with the southern 1/2 of Banning which has great whitewater for kayaking. This place has something for everyone, including lots of adventurous hiking/climbing.

Best ice climbing for easy access from Twin Cities. Love the river and the sound of animals and trains at night. The entrance hill can be a bit treacherous in icy weather, mostly on the way back up and out!

My favorite place to bring my kids...and I visit the bat cave up the river from the park often....then go to banning state park on foot trails or jump back in car and run up there to see and walk the trails on the kettle river..!! Can you imagine how long it took water to swirl over and over, round and round to make those kettles in the rock along this river...freakin awesome. Bring your children, bring your camera, smile and enjoy!!!

Beautiful area with some fun spots to explore. Even more fun if you raft down the river! Camping is not allowed so the park is kept pretty clean without the addition of people's litter from camping.

Love it here. Been coming here since i was a kid and now we're grown and come here with our kids. Plenty of trails to follow or make your own. Rocks to climb on for all sizes and ages. Cliff to scale as well. All right along the Kettle river.
