Smitty's Lodge Motorcycle Campground

Great location, good prices, has just about everything you need when on motorcycle trips. Wendell, the owner, is a nice guy and even remembered my name after it had been a minute since my last trip there. You can catch a beautiful sunset in front of the grounds.

This place is a gem! Located just outside of town and close to the western end of the Cherohala Skyway, stores, restaurants and gas. Everything a motorcycle enthusiast needs is here. Clean A/C/Heated cabins (with refrig and microwave) and tent camping sites with picnic tables and fire rings. Firewood is available onsite. There is a tire changer, lift and vise for repairs, covered tables, bagged ice, clean bathrooms with showers (and hot water!). Coffee and tea, vending, microwave oven, full laundry with a boot/leather dryer. Wendell, Daphne and their silent partner, Cheddar, have thought of everything that you need for an enjoyable getaway and were very accommodating!

7 of us stayed here on 10-5-23. This is a very nice place with very nice staff. Showers and bathroom are clean and they provide you with towels. This was my 2nd time here and I will be back. Thank you to the staff, you guys are GREAT.

A Biker's Paradise at Smitty's Lodge Motorcycle Campground

I recently had the most incredible motorcycle camping experience at Smitty's Lodge Motorcycle Campground, and I can't recommend it enough! If you're a motorcycle enthusiast looking for the perfect destination, this is the place to be. And to top it all off, Daphne, the owner, is an absolute gem who goes above and beyond to ensure every guest has an amazing stay.

Smitty's Lodge is a motorcycle paradise. The campground itself is designed with riders in mind, offering spacious campsites with convenient parking and even designated areas for gear maintenance. The picturesque surroundings of lush forests and winding roads make it the perfect base camp for exploring the scenic beauty of the region.

The facilities at Smitty's Lodge Motorcycle Campground are clean, well-maintained, and geared towards the needs of riders. The shower facilities are spacious and provide hot showers after a long day on the road. There is also a well-stocked camp store with essential supplies

This is a great place to stay! It’s really clean and the owners are very friendly! They have covered just about anything you could need out on the road, to include laundry facilities, vending, a coffee bar, grilling area and even a place to work on your bike if you have trouble on the road. I highly recommend this place and will definitely stay here again soon.

Great campground run by friendly people. Its got everything you need for a camper and some nice extras. Everything was clean! Would stay again. Cabin was clean n as described also beds were comfy. A convenient change of pace from my hammock.

Campground that caters to all motorcyclist from all areas. Beautiful campground in a perfect area.

Owners were very nice and friendly, coming out and hanging out around the fire at night time with us.

Cabins are a great price and allot more roomy then they look on the outside. They feature a nice covered place to park your bike.

The bath house had plenty of room for multiple people to use at once, and fantastic water pressure in the roomy showers.

Plenty of amenities including grills, firewood, laundry, ice, beer, and snacks with what appears to be allot of ideas for future expansion and upgrades!

Very few complaints. Do wish the grills were in better condition to cook on. There is a dusk to dawn light that is on all night and is very bright. Blocks allot of the natural beauty of the mountain at night time (not the owners fault tho.) Our particular cabin didn't have a porch light or a light where you park your bikes like the other cabins did.

Overall, a great place to stay while riding the mountains, and I can't wait to come back again and see all the changes they continue to make!

Thought it was a great value. Just needed a place to crash for the night. Beds are comfortable. The room was hot when we got there, but cooled down real quick with the AC. If I'm in the area again, I'd happily stay here.

Awesome Place!  These folks have literally thought of EVERYTHING a motorcycle enthusiasts needs.  From the well stocked vending machine,  microwave and coffee / tea  access 24/7 with all the fixings. You will survive, even if they roll the sidewalks up on ya in town.

The location is excellent for all the cool loops, the Skyway and the Tail.

These folks work hard to provide super clean facilities and the water was ALWAYS HOT!  Don't have soap, not a problem.   It's there 🙂

They also stock hand cleaner, have a motorcycle jack and Vise available.

Laundry facilities are clean and modern.  They even have a machine to dry your leather in case Mother Nature is unkind.

All the cabins have super cool boot and glove dryers built-in as well.  Beds are super comfy and the towels soft!

Gas grill if you don't want to cook over the Awesome fire pits.  Firewood and Ice ~ I mean it!  They got you covered!

And don't worry about condiments. They are in the fridge.

Don't let the website detour ya over a 2 night minimum, they are VERY accommodating!

Stayed here while riding the SM500 and out of 4 nights this was our favorite place by far! I’d give it a 10 star if I could! The owners have thought of everything! We stayed in a 2 twin bed cabin that was equipped with a fridge, microwave and boot dryers. Linens and bath towels were included. Nice large fire pit and covered motorcycle parking at each cabin. They have the cleanest bath house I’ve ever used! Woke up to a help yourself coffee pot which was nice! They had grills, community pavilion and motorcycle work station. Ice and beer on site.. couldn’t ask for anything that wasn’t already there! Will definitely include Smittys next time we ride in the mountains!

Stayed here while on a trip across the country. The atmosphere was great and the crowd was cool. The staff was very friendly and helpful plus they made sure everything was good for the evening. There are all the necessary amenities such as showers(clean too), snacks, and places to grill. I'll stay again whenever I'm back in the area.

This place is perfect for the motorcycle traveler! Rooms were really clean, bathrooms were clean, owner was very friendly, and it's just a pretty cool place.

Absolutely the best campground I have ever stayed at! The cabins are roomy and comfortable, the grounds are clean and beautiful! The shower house was super clean and well stocked with plenty of hot water!! The coffee station has everything you need! The picnic area is of great size! The owners are incredible people and they went above and beyond for our huge biker meet up 4 day event!

Blown away by the amenities for a $15 tent camping site. I spent a night here while on a long motorcycle camping trip. AWESOME shower/bath house, honor-system firewood, beer fridge, ice. Reliable Wi-Fi that reaches all the tent sites. I get it, it's use of a patch of grass to set up a tent but many sites charge more and have far less amenities than this. Fantastic place!

Came across Smitty's quite by accident and boy I'm sure glad I did! As a full-time motorcycle traveler this place ranks top on my list as THE place to get some maintenance work done on my bike with some of the best roads you'll find in the Eastern U.S. quite literally just around the corner. Smitty's set's you up with a work area to keep your bike maintained, up to date showers, a laundry room, vending machines and even hot coffee along with groceries, fast food and gas less than two minutes away. If you live like I do don't plan on making Smitty's a stop over point, make it a destination!

Excellent motorcycle camp, reasonable prices, well run, excellent location. Always have hot showers, hot coffee in the morning and clean restrooms. There is a large grassy area for tent camping, cabins with lean-to's for your motorcycle, equipment to make minor repairs on your bike, oil changes, etc. BBQ, refrigerator, freezer for your use, laundry, leather jackets and boot dryers. Great rides in every direction, Cherohalala Skyway, Unicoi Turnpike Trail, Blueridge Parkway, etc. For the adventure bikers, TheTellico Plains Adventure trail, Trans-America trail etc.

Perfect spot to base out of for all the fun roads. Cabins are worth every penny, laundry, clean showers and bathroom. Covered cooking area and fire pits. Very affordable and the owners are really friendly and helpful.

As a rider that travels long distances on a bike with a tent, the one thing I look for is a campground with primtive campers in mind. This is the place for real bikers as well as trailer travelers looking to hit the tail of the dragon. Spacious camp sites, welcoming facilities (far better than state park camp grounds I usually hit), and a family style staff that appreciates and recognizes the strain of 500 miles a day on 2 wheels. I have not tried the cabins but from what our neighbors say, they are great. This is truly a campsite where I can kick back with like minded folk and rest up. The community beer fridge is also a VERY APPRECIATED service. They rely on the honor system at night. If you stay here, please return the favor to keep this place thriving. I will go out of my way to return to this site.
