Cook's Station

A very convenient stop along mountain roads to grab a bite at. Enjoyed their French Dip sandwich, the side fries were hot and fresh too. Our server’s the sweetest! Think she might be the only server working there and there were many tables but everyone’s being well taken care of.

There’s a nice outdoor patio area. Inside the restaurant, there’s an entire wall of coolers for alcohol! Before 11 they serve breakfast/brunch but after 11 it’s strictly lunch.

Very friendly service, food was great and they sell fresh baked cookies, I suggest you pick some up as you pay your bill. In the middle of a forest on the top of a mountain is this jem.

Great place, wonderful service and good food . We ordered a John's burger with onion rings and a Crispy chicken burger. It was a snowy January afternoon and the cup of chilli was such a delight to have .
The food takes a bit longer to prepare, not a complaint rather a compliment for the homely meal that was served .
The service was excellent .
2023 update: can't stress it enough about how friendly the staff are . The only tavern style wine is awesome.

Small Cafe on mountain pass, open in the middle of January! Wow, did we need food and Super WOW , did they deliver. Chicken fried steak and double chicken fried steak. Wonderful atmosphere and super nice family staff. Driving by, make sure to stop!

Excellent place to stop for food and beverages. Extensive breakfast and burger menus. The Eric Burger and fries were awesome. The service was very friendly and the restaurant was clean.

With stops few and far between on the mountain highway, this restaurant and bar was founded in 1863, almost 160 years ago, so remote that they generate their own electricity. While the exterior looks much like it could have looked originally. The interior is relatively modern, service is fast and friendly, food is excellent, not gourmet, just good country food.

We showed up 5 minutes after they had closed. We were starving but they had already turned off the grill, but they still had the fryer on. They were kind enough to offer chicken and fries or fish and fries. We ordered the chicken and fries. They were so good. Crispy and juicy, the fried were the thicker crinkle fries and so tasty. The service was fantastic, they went above and beyond to help us when they didn't have too and the food was so good!!! They allowed us to eat on the back patio and use the restroom (which had a heater in it!!). Definitely will be back to try the extensive breakfast menu!

Staff is very friendly and food was very good definitely worth a stop if you're going up 89. The beer selection was great too

Lots of parking, even for toy haulers & big rigs.

We stopped at Cook’s station for lunch after our ski trip. There was a wonderful lady serving 6 of us on day after Christmas. We ordered 4 different foods and they were all great. There are 25 different burgers and different sandwiches come with fries. Great spot for brunch or lunch. There is also a lovely Klee Kai in the restaurant that is friendly and nice to play with.

Amazing place. Worth the drive. Make sure to get there early if you lile breakfast! Huge menu. I believe breakfast ends at around 11am then switches to lunch. Their breakfast is amazing. Their lunch is pretty good as well though. Very homely feel. If you treat them nice they will do the same! Alot of history about the area

The wonderful kind woman let me use the restroom though I wasn't a paying customer! When I come back next week I'll stop by and have lunch since I didn't have the opportunity this time. Thank you again for letting me use your restroom, You were a lifesaver!

Best place to have some breakfast before heading up to kirkwood. Menu is huge and they price is really reasonable and the staff are very friendly. Ask them bout the ghost stories very interesting.

Great burgers, like amazingly great burgers, some of the best I have had anywhere, friendly staff, beautiful spot on hwy 88, my favourite place to eat in Amador county...

I only had a BLT with French Fries, and there isn't much that can go wrong with that.
