Too many people have died at Centerpoint going in for simple procedures. I also feel, that if it is an elderly patient do dont pay much attention to them. I can attest to that. My mother was there and she died there. The nursing staff said very little to my mom or me. I am her DPOA. When I brought her in I expected to take her back home however she expired there.

WORST EXPERIENCE with a hospital. We've been in Cameron, St. Joseph, Springfield, two in Columbia, two in Jefferson City and Macon hospitals in Missouri. Centerpoint is the first hospital to deny us seeing our loved one immediately after surgery when he was scared, disoriented and begging for his family members to be allowed to come back to see him. He didn't remember his own name or why he was in the hospital, but he specifically asked for one family member - repeatedly - and was denied. He was left alone and scared. SHAME ON CENTERPOINT for their lack of patient and patient family sensitivity. (I wouldn't even give it one star, but it wouldn't let me post unless I marked one star.)

Wish I could -✡I’m begging you don’t go here It’s the worst ER experience I have ever seen and when asked they told me this is how it normally always is. So to start off I called up to independence center point hospital to try and make an appointment, they said no. I then ask if there were any doctors I could arrange an appointment with without waiting months, they said no.
I ask for the ER and got the receptionist whom I ask if there would be a long wait/are there lots of people(I think is how I worded it), she said no.
Here is the good part 😢 I go into the ER and see a dozen people but a full parking lot, so I think not that bad probably. (Found out later there were way more people in various other waiting areas)
I walk up to receptionist and she says wait before anything else, so I wait a long time then finally get to sign in. I wait 2 hours to be seen. All they do is check vitals and say wait for someone to come get a urine sample or something. After 2 more hours they come have me pee in a cup and take a blood sample. I wait another hour and they ask me questions about the pain in my lower right side, then say we need to do a cat scan of your abdominal area. Another hour later the doctor comes and says you definitely have an appendix that needs to be removed to which I say ok, then he jabs me hard in the spot that I said hurts, mind you the last 3 people that have talked to me have done the same thing and every time I said that hurts stop. You would think the guy that comes to say it’s the appendix “I see this all the time” would know it hurts like heck and not to jab me there when he knows already.
So it’s midnight now and there is nothing else to check but the doctor told me the hospital is full up so they are trying to find a place to put me, and just stay in this very uncomfortable chair.
After another hour I say it’s late can I go home and come back in the morning, she responds no, ok I say can I get transferred to a different hospital seeing as how it would have been nice to tell me at the door “we are full if it’s not life threatening then find another hospital”
She said no.
I said to the nurse please can I have a cot, she said no, can I get a rolling gurney? Heck I’ll sleep on one in the Hall or sleep on the floor, she said no. The nurse does say I can try and sleep on a reclining chair I say alright that’s better than nothing.
There then comes in a guy that wines very loudly about how his arm hurts and wines for almost 2 hours straight, meanwhile I’m asking the nurse please move this guy or get me a room he is noisy. The nurse finally released the guy saying he will need to find another hospital they can’t help him.
I finally slept for an hour in the chair then the nurse comes to wake me up with great news they found a place in a back room where I could sleep on a gurney.
I go to the gurney, lay down and sleep for an hour before a new nurse comes and says she needs to check vitals.
After the rn checks my vitals I go back to sleep and a new nurse comes in every 45min to check vitals and run blood pressure until 8am when they said time for surgery wake up and get naked under your gown, as all of this has been progressing I have been asking questions about what is going to happen or the process and no one knows anything about anything at all, with one exception the lady that came to collect some copay Money knew how to get money.
So finally a surgeon comes in at 9:15am I ask him questions, all he says is appendix has to go so we are going to put you to sleep and take it out. I’m like who cares, let’s do this but the surgeon looks like he hasn’t slept in days, with bright blood shot eyes, so I ask a different nurse if he is ok and he says yeah this guys good and it always goes well, plus he has already done 2 of These this morning.
After that I go under they take it out and I come to about 2 hours later, I’m groggy and throte very sore from the tube they put in so I would breath and not choke. Bottom line is I got out of there as soon as I could and the employees were rude and un knowledgeable throughout.
