Beware of rattlesnakes and poison oak! I did not encounter a snake but there was a lot of poison oak on the second half of the trail! There are also a lot of lizards that I saw which was cool. But if you happen to be scared of lizards then it might be a rough trail to get through. There is no parking near the trail because its all houses so you have to park where the bridge is at and its $8 parking! From there you will have to walk up the street to the trail where there is a green gate. I give the actual trail a 3/5 , but overall i rate 5/5 because the waterfall was amazing and relaxing and a great spot to swim. The first half of the trail is not maintained and there is a lot of spiky plants that are overgrown into the trail. I almost did not think it was worth it when I first saw the trail. I used a walking stick to push the plants out of the way. My friend got cuts on her legs from all the spiky plants. The first half of the trail is in the sun and it was very hot so I suggest going when its cool outside. The way to the waterfall is mainly uphill ,so on top of the heat it was very tiring. The trail is mostly narrow and have to be extra careful when you see poison oak because most spots are growing into the trail. When you are about to reach the waterfall there is a slope downward that is kind of slippery but there is a rope tied to the tree that can help you get down easier. Overall, I enjoyed myself and would be great to go back again to get in the water. As long as you are cautious and hike the trail in cooler weather then It'll be worth the experience. The photos I posted show what the trail looks like so you can get a visual of the rough parts of the trail.

Had a great hike to the falls. Parking is not easy. It is best if you park at the historic gold museum and walk over but that adds quite a walk to the hike. Well worth the views when you get to the falls. Please respect everyone's property and don't park on the road near the trail head.

Trail was "not maintained" but totally passable. We went Feb 2018. Yes, best parking is at Marshall Gold Discovery for $8 or so or risk getting towed. You get to walk over a historical bridge at least! The first fall is broad and a nice spot to stop to eat. If you keep going to the confluence of the two creeks those falls are gorgeous and fun to climb - don't stop at the first one! Pretty hike. Took our 5 year old with no issues. Cool wildlife and bugs. No dogs allowed sign posted. Careful of poison oak.

Beautiful hike. Moderate. Muddy trail. Pay for parking at museum before going across bridge.
Enjoy the hike.

The hike was great exercise, the view of the mountain breathtaking - full of wildflowers!
Locals gave us a good tip: if parking alongside the street, be sure all four tires are off the pavement to avoid a ticket.

Absolutely love this for a non exhausting get away hike. Parking is tricky now as the locals do not like you parking along the road and it’s now littered with do not park signs:(. Great hike for kids to go see newts and the falls. Bring bug repellent.

Beautiful ❤ there is a smaller waterfall in the beginning about a 10 min walk and then if you continue approximately 15 min more you get to two bigger waterfalls , really gorgeous

The bigger waterfalls are a little harder to get too, there are even ropes to get down
but not too bad, we did with our baby on the Carrier

Great "bang for the buck " hike. Parking is limited. Drive a little past the trail head. Room for about 6 cars.

Beautiful area for hiking. The falls is a short distance away from the museum parking. Parking at the museum is $10 which can be paid with cash in front of the door. If you don’t have cash you can leave a note in your car that you will pay when it opens at 10 AM. They do not tow you away. The trail was easy to access. Be early to avoid crowd.

Great hike if the water is flowing. The trail is unmaintained but still in pretty good shape. A few steep areas that would be tough if there were recent rains. The final falls descent is fairly steep and muddy/dirty depending on the season but if you are a reasonably athletic hiker it’s pretty easy and well worth it. Most of our party were people who wouldn’t consider themselves “hikers” and we had a 4 year old with us and we made it with no injuries.

This is a beautiful place to hike with an off-trail hill that can test your endurance if willing. I wouldn't bring little ones or hike on a rainy day. The trail is narrow and on a cliff.

The parking was shut down. You will have to park at the gold discovery state park and walk about a mile to the trailhead. The hike is usually uncrowed and very cool. There are waterfalls at the end, about 2 miles up.

This place is amazing!!! It takes about 15 mins to walk to the first waterfall and it's so beautiful and then if you keep going you will reach 2 more waterfalls that are absolutely amazing!! It's definitely worth the hike!
