Rudder's Cafe-Catawba

Yesterday, I visited Rudder’s for their opening day of the season. We are frequent customers to this establishment and always enjoy their hospitality, fresh made to order food and outdoor eating area. Customers are more than welcome to bring their dog on a leash. They have ample amount of seating in the sun or shade. There is a gift shop located inside the cafe as well as outside there is a separate building on the property with really cool and creative items to purchase. Food wise you can never go wrong. Their prices are a bit higher than you would expect for a wrap or sandwich but it’s locally owned not a franchise and totally beats what would be a comparable Panera out of the league. Rudder’s always has a special deviled egg in their glass case which is always one of our favorites to purchase with every meal. Desserts from brownies, cookies, muffins and other vegan options for customers as well. I ordered the Cali wrap (turkey, avocado, tomatoes, lettuce, sprouts with a pistachio spread on a wheat wrap) which was amazing. I would have loved extra pistachio spread because it was soo good. The best part of all, you can order alcohol here. They have a number of spritzers, wine in cans and always of course non alcoholic beverages available to purchase with your meal. You can place order for dine in or carry out. Who doesn’t like to have lunch with their pets on a patio!? Great visit for the start of the season.

Great breakfast and lunch on top of service. Very nice place to sit inside and out. Ingredients are fresh and individually prepared. Meat was cut after we placed our order. Not many places do this any more. Worth the wait even though we were quickly served This is one of our new go to places even though they have been here for 20 years!

Wife and I stopped in for lunch while visiting Catawba Island. We were surprized at the fun and colorful motif and decore. Also amazed with the numerous options of gourmet sandwiches, home made soups, and salads. But what really stood out was the warmth and sincerity of the wait staff. It was refreshing to see. I had the rubin sandwich and my wife had the chicken salad with a cup of tomato mushroom soup. Both were fresh and tasty. Only regret is that we couldn't try more of the menu. I really wanted to try the Chicago hot dog but maybe next time. We will certainly return on our next trip to the area and highly recommend.

Really cool spot for breakfast, lunch, coffee or to shop around. We stopped here for a coffee and morning treat and can’t wait to come back.
Staff was so friendly and our pastry and coffee were fantastic.

We stopped here to grab a quick bite before heading to the Put in Bay island. The cafe is less than 5 minutes (drive) away from the ferry point.
We enjoyed the food and drinks.

Breakfast Croissant was literal breakfast perfection! Cute little shop and friendly service too!

Excellent Vegan & Vegetarian options! All made fresh and served in a delightful nautical atmosphere. Outside seating is " dog friendly" and there are many cute gifts you can purchase in the shop!

Highly recommend Rudders. Great coffee and sandwiches, they also have live music on weekends. The outdoor patio is very nice and neat knick knacks in the store. They also have a separate gift shop with nice stuff.

Very cool spot for breakfast or lunch, great menu diversity as well as a cool shopping experience. Comfortable and attractive outdoor seating was great, this will definitely become a common stop for us.

The food was so delicious and fresh! The veggies tasted like they were plucked straight from the garden, cooked, and served for our breakfast! The coffee was wonderful as well! There is an adorable outdoor setting, as well as inside seating. Highly recommend.

Love it here...usually have the 'Captain Bob' or their hazelnut blend. We walk here fault from our lake house about a mile away...great staff & food...!!!

Very nice Cafe. Food was great and reasonably priced. Service was excellent and friendly. Really enjoyed the atmosphere. Will definitely return when in the area.

Great vegetarian options; the food is always delicious; and the staff is always friendly. They also have an adorable patio area and nice little shop while you wait. I wish I could give it more stars.

I had the wonton salad and my husband had the BLT and they were both amazing! Also, the staff was very nice and the love music was great!

We only got the food to go, but the atmosphere was great! Dog friendly patio and really good food that won't break the bank. Was truly great and look forward to going again next year when they reopen and we're up in Catawba

Cute place. Stopped in on a Sunday morning, just in time to grab the last table inside. If there had been nicer weather outside, we would have taken advantage of the outdoor patio.

Great menu variety. Appreciated the options for the vegans in our party. Staff was friendly and answered questions we had as well. The Southern Sunrise tasted great, I loved the golden brown, chewy crust - try to snag a corner piece!

It's a good thing I'm not a local, I'd be here all the time!

Loved Rudders!! They had such a great menu to choose your food from. I had the chicken salad sandwich which was EXCEPTIONAL!! Was so nice to be able to eat on the patio with my two friends.
They also had nice assortment of gifts and enticing food to buy. I bought the Rudders sweatshirt which I found to be soft and cozy. If you get the chance go to Rudder's for a fun time.🎉🎊🎁🍰

Coffee is great!! Food is great!! Service is great!! I love the items they have around the shop to purchase!!
