Purple Parrot Ice Cream Bar

Yum! Just right for a hot summer day!
Purple Parrot serves food and ice cream, but we were here just for the ice cream.
And they serve both soft serve and hand dipped Toft's ice cream.
Their location is perfect to East Harbor State Park. Located just outside the entrance and within an easy bike ride.
Besides the ice cream, the next best thing about this place is they have a covered and screened in area for you to enjoy your meal. Most ice cream stands you simply eat quickly before the ice cream melts!

I had a hotdog with sauerkraut and a Put-in-Bay sundae (hot fudge sundae). It was a warm June day, but the ice cream was still solid. The peanut butter and chocolate candies on it were not frozen hard. There was plenty of whipped cream and a maraschino cherry on top. There is free parking in a gravel lot, and an outdoor shaded area to eat. Just down the road from the entrance to East Harbor State Park. Fast service, and the employees all were wearing masks and gloves during the COVIID-19 outbreak. 5 stars. Thank you!

Not only is this place super cute, but it's super affordable, the staff is super friendly and they have DOLE WHIP! Check it out next time you are in the area, I know we will be back!

For the last 2 years we have been camping at East State Harbor, and stopping here has become a family tradition. Great ice cream, and very friendly staff!

Me and my family’s favorite part about our vacation to Lake Erie. The staff was so sweet and kind every time we went there, we always had our food within seconds of placing our order, and the food was AMAZING. [Highly recommended]

We love Purple Parrot!! They make your ice cream perfectly even if you ask for variations from the menu!! It's an annual MUST VISIT for our family. The outdoor eating area is wonderful and so fun too!

I had a vanilla cone, and my dog had a vanilla pup cup. We were both quite pleased. Ice cream was tasty and frozen hard enough that it didn't melt too quickly. My wife had a turtle Sunday and enjoyed hers as well. Recommend.

Whoooaaaa....what an awesome road side stop!! I was leaving the state park, near by, at about dinner time. While driving down the highway, Purple Parrots large ice cream cone caught my attention. I had a large Vanilla milkshake and a bacon cheeseburger. Both were awesome. And, the workers there were very cordial and helpful.

Stopped for a quick cone with the hubbie. The twisted Dole Whip Strawberry/Mango waffle cone was delicious. The Medium Mint chocolate chip on a sugar cone was massive. Had to have it placed in a cup so it would not topple off. Recommend everyone stop for their dessert!!!

What a great little unique ice cream place just outside of East Harbor State Park! They have all kinds of different flavors, Toft’s ice cream, Dole Whip, and the sundae’s are fabulous. Some are named after different places in the area. The staff is great. They are always friendly and smiling no matter how many people are in line because it seemed to be a pretty popular place while we were there. There is also some seating there if you want to enjoy your treat there. We will definitely be back when we are in town! Kudos to the staff/owners!

Nice little off the road spot! Very friendly lady. Wish we would have stopped sooner. They offer food at reasonable prices. We would rather support independent businesses over big chain. Close to East Harbor State Park. 2023 update: We stopped there twice on this vacation. Food and service excellent. Always very busy, could use a bigger parking lot which doesn't look feasible, but well worth a visit!

The food here is so good and the parking is very ample but the staff is why I gave 5 stars. I take my 18 year old grandson who’s autistic often and sometimes he’s a bit rambunctious but we’ve been treated with kindness and respect and they are so accommodating to us. It’s a more than a trip to the ice cream shop for us it’s a delicious visit with friends. Thank you to all who made our visits an extra special treat!

The line is long but the wait isn't. You can get soft serve or Tofts ice cream. I had an orange cream and vanilla twist in a cake cone. It was delicious.😋 I can't wait to go back.

I had a delicious Dole whip refresher, as per other reviews. I also got a side of onion rings, which were very affordable and came in a large portion. I’ll definitely be back!

Holy cow the portion sizes are huge 🤣 I got a medium cone and it was probably 4 giant scoops. Super tasty and convenient to pull off and grab a cool treat. They had my pup covered too! Her doggy sundae had cute bones in some ice cream.

Delicious ice cream and incredible customer service! The gentleman saw that our ice cream was melted (after having to move our trailer) and replaced it for us, along with my husband's, who dropped his on the ground. Such a kind gesture!

I got the peach-cream hard scoop ice cream and it was sooo delicious! Highly recommend if your passing through the area!🍦

The staff was great. Got 6 hand scoop ice cream cones. They did a great job getting them out. Only issue and this isn't there fault the lake Erie cookie monster melts really fast. But man does it taste great.

Love this family ice cream business. Sometimes the owner makes homemade cobblers to go along with icecream and it’s the best!

We love purple parrot visit several times when we come up in area to go camping. Love the dole whip. Yes it’s worth the wait if long line. But they move lines pretty quick
