Nickels Engineering are experts in solar engineering and generous in sharing their guidance and designing the right system for you. Our rooftop installation went very smoothly, and the workmanship for the whole system was impeccable. I highly recommend Kevin and Steve Nickels.

I rarely leave reviews and when I do its for only the best or worst experiences. NES IS THE BEST SOLAR TEAM SERVING CNY... PERIOD. Buying solar is a very complex decision, read below and choose wisely. NES owners Steven & Kevin Nickels were involved with every step, no detail was too small. NO PUSHY SELLING, they do their homework, present it and let you decide. They did forecasts, designed the system, filed for permits, their install team executed the install flawlessly, and at the end, they trained me on the app, reviewed all of the solar tax documents they'd prepared for me, they instructed me on how to follow-up with Nat Grid. All 'after the sale' questions were answered fast.

SUMMARY: Solar is expensive and complex, I will recommend NES because you just can't execute Solar any better.

Kevin and Steve are fantastic to work with and I would highly recommend NES. They had competitive pricing and by far the best customer service of any solar installer I interacted with. Their hardware selection is very good and I like being able to view the complete history of my solar production with the Enphase app.

Even nearly a year after installation, NES is always responsive to any questions and are always happy to help.

I am very impressed after hiring Nickels Energy Solutions to install our solar project. Both Steve and Kevin are very professional and knowledgeable. Kevin was the original point of contact and his willingness to spend hours on the phone with me over various conversations is a testament to their commitment to customers. I cannot recommend them highly enough – if you are looking for a solar installer, give NES a chance. If you choose them, you will not be disappointed.

NES went above and beyond to help us get panels on our roof! They communicated with our roofers to time their installation quickly after the roof was installed. Kevin and his brother Steve made a few very informative visits and answered my emails and calls right away. We have been following the energy production of our panels on an App and it has been matching or exceeding the expected output estimated by NES! Steve and Kevin Nickels and their crew were a pleasure to work with. They were helpful, responsive, prompt, polite, friendly and did an outstanding job. Our ground mount solar system in Cazenovia has been producing enough power to cover our needs and bank some extra for the coming winter months since it was installed in September. We would highly recommend NES to anyone considering a solar system.

Throughout the process of design, acceptance, permitting, installation, and follow-up, we found Kevin and Steve to be very responsive, knowledgeable. We had several restrictions. Specifically, we wanted to buy as much of the materials as possible from American manufacturers and we were the first for a new town board process for permitting solar systems that was ridiculously complex and time consuming (paperwork was probably conceived for a commercial installation). The Nickels team researched possible reliable US manufacturers and provided data sheets for us to choose from. Once chosen, the design was tweaked several times to accommodate the new manufacturers’ parts. The town board delayed the installation of our system to allow their members to review the massive amount of documentation they requested and our system was installed in the fall rather than the peak summer season as it was originally planned. Nickels Energy worked around every obstacle, putting in the time and effort, requiring no addition fees, even though significant additional engineering, travel, administrative, and clerical time was required. They attended the town planning board meeting and worked through all the details with the board, requiring just minor support from us.
After the system was functioning, they changed out a few of the inverters that weren’t reporting usage.

In short, they are the best!

I love my solar panels. But more important, Nickels did a great job. The customer service was unparalleled and this was important because there were additional complications doing the job in the city of Syracuse. The job was delayed a number of times due to inspections and site visits by national grid but Nickels kept me informed at every step of the way. They also did a great job of cleaning up after each step.

Very professional organization and we are so glad to have used Nickels Energy for our new solar system! Highly recommend!

Just absolutely phenomenal experience getting solar installed on our roof. My wife, initially hesitant, said "wow, that's badass!" while reviewing the completed work. Everyone was super friendly and helpful throughout the process. Our home is 200+ years old, and they took the time to add additional support to brace the roof. Can't recommend enough!!

Outfitting our home with alternative/green energy solutions was a dream of my husband and mine before the ink was dry on our home purchase. We looked into many solar programs and installers and never gained the confidence to move forward; we were further discouraged by a couple companies that said our property was flat-out not a good fit for solar. Kevin and the team at NES made it a reality for us. Kevin is one of the finest sales professionals we have ever had the pleasure of working with. He's incredibly personable, knows his product, has a stellar business model, and is able to re-frame project constraints into possibilities. Taking into consideration the loan approval, discussion of tax credits, our need for a new roof, and design/implementation of the actual solar array, it wasn't a simple process, but Kevin was totally transparent during project planning and we felt included every step of the way. The installation ended up being very affordable and we're really happy with the end result.

Recently had a solar system installed at my property by Steve and Kevin, great guys to deal with! They took care of everything. The system was installed mid August and I am very happy with everything with only 2 weeks of producing power and it covered the whole month August, naturally having great sunny weather helped 😊.
