For a handful of years, my fellow band members and I tolerated the fluctuating tuning of my Gibson Les Paul and random delays during rehearsals. Finally, they could take my retuning "moments" no longer, and insisted that I buy a set of Kluson locking tuners.

Turned out that I lacked the skillset to replace the tuners. A friend referred me to Mr. Johns. My positive experience began with his answering the phone literally after the first ring. After hearing he could get the guitar squared away in virtually no time for a fair cost well within 3 hours in one day later in the week, Walt handed me back this treasure of a guitar with a new lease on life. Better than ever for me.

What's more, it's super easy to reach and park at the Walt Johns Guitar location from mid-Montgomery County and Frederick County. Thanks, Walt!

Walt is a guitar wizard!! He has repaired dead spots on one of my guitar's fretboard. His setups are always spot on. His attention to details is awesome. Fast and spot on service. Solder joints on new pickup change outs are professional and clean. Great luthier.

Been to Walt's shop a few times with different jobs. Every single one 150% of satisfaction. He used to live a few blocks from me and has since moved. Now I have a strat to refret, and will undoubtedly be taking it to Walt when I get a chance. You can trust his experience and knowledge with eyes closed.

A big thank you to Walt for his help in setting up my guitars!

After many years of dormancy, I was wanting to get back to playing again. But given that I hadn't touched them in so long, I was a little apprehensive and needing the kind of peace of mind that everything was good with the guitars along with a set up service.

A quick Google search showed Walt's repair shop at the top of the list and after reading so many positive reviews (and a big shout-out to the other reviewers as that was what brought me here), I set up a time to drop off my guitars. I picked them up the next day and Walt took me through some of what he found/adjusted/fixed and they sound wonderful!

My dad also ended up having Walt look at his acoustic guitar, which Walt was able to service right then and there.

I highly recommend and encourage anyone needing guitar services to do so with Walt. Trust and peace of mind are hard to come by, but you will find that with Walt.

I brought Walt 4 beloved guitars. I’d never had a tech work on a guitar before, and I was apprehensive to leave them with a stranger. Now I can’t wait to refer him to my friends. So polite, professional, and remarkably quick with his work. I won’t be going to anyone else.

Very professional, reasonable charges, quick service. Walt has worked on many of my guitars over the years, everything from simple setups to helping get a 'problem' guitar into playable condition. Today he performed a great upgrade/mod on my '52 reissue Telecaster, installing a 4-position switch and rewiring the pickups. Polite, attentive, careful service, for a reasonable cost (almost too cheap!), in under an hour. Highest recommendation.

I have been taking my guitars, including a vintage L-5C, to Walt for well over 10 years. He always does professional work. His price is very reasonable. I am always impressed with how much better my guitars play and sound after Walt has worked on them. Great work! Highly recommended.

I am now another very satisfied customer of Walt John's guitar shop. After reading all the great reviews, I called to get my newly acquired (used) acoustic checked out and the action adjusted.

He was very professional and was able to get me in and out in no time. It's now like playing a whole new guitar. Huge difference. He also cleaned it up and polished it. It now looks, sounds, and plays much better. And for a very reasonable price. Will be taking all of my guitar work there from now on. Thanks

This was my first experience with Walt Johns Guitar Repair and it was an awesome one. He gave my new ES-335 a full setup and had it ready that same day. The guitar played pretty well before, and it now plays fantastically thanks to him! He's a very nice guy with a cool shop. I'll definitely be going back to him for future guitar services.

I am speechless on the amount of pride and work ethic that was given when I took my Ibanez 2550EX to get a Setup. It was quick (Less than 3 Hours), reasonably priced, and when I came to pick it up, the guitar shined and played like it was blessed by the Guitar Gods! If you have any reservations about coming to Walt Johns Guitar Repair, take it from me, whom does not review on google, and give him a call. Amazing service. I will only be coming here for all my guitar needs from now on!

I've taken a couple of guitars to Walt Johns, and each time the repair was done well and the price was very reasonable. It is a pleasure to interact with a person who so obviously knows his craft. I recommend him to anyone who needs anything done on a guitar, from a simple setup to a difficult breakage. I don't know if he's the best, I just know I'd trust him with anything to do with any guitar.

This man is a master of his craft, brought an old guitar in that I’d been putting off getting fixed and Walt knew exactly what was going on. Fixed it up right in front of me in about 15 minutes (including changing strings, disassembling and reassembling) for a VERY reasonable price. Honestly if I could give him more than 5 stars I would!!!

Walt did some work for me way back in his guitar center days. He is very competent at Luthier work and a real good picker to boot. I do my own work now but would not think twice about having him work on any of my guitars.

I brought in my '96 LP for a cleaning on a pickup selector and to have a bone nut made and installed. Two days later I picked it up and it played better than it ever has before in the 13 years that I have owned it. Apart from his impressive guitar expertise, Walt is a great guy as well. Thanks!

This guy is great! Even after me rescheduling many times he was still nice and professional when I brought the guitar in. He did an exceptional job with the setup and would recommend anyone bring thier guitar to him. I will definitely bring other guitars to him. Thanks for everyrhing.

Walt took my ES335 from what I thought was a good but rather stiff player into one that plays like butter. He tweaked my tuners, lowered the action, made the intonation accurate and sealed the fretboard. And he's a great cat too.

Just got back from visiting Walt Johns. I bought a cheap electric off craigslist which was squirrelly. He took it apart, fixed everything perfectly, tightened all the loose nobs, etc. And he charged a very honest and fair fee. I will be visiting him for all future guitar (he does accoustic too) needs. It is fantastic finding someone who takes true pride in his work and charges reasonable prices. I can't recommend him enough

I had Mr. Johns perform a setup on my Gibson electric and Martin acoustic guitar. Its unbelievable how well they play in comparison to when i first bought them. He will be my go to guy for any setup or repair work that I need.
