La Casa del Mundo was an absolute dream stay! The grounds are lush, well maintained, with so many breathtaking viewpoints. The staff is friendly, kind, and very attentive. I love the artwork, decor and signage throughout the property. You have easy lake access for swimming or kayaking. They offer massages and I highly recommend Jamie- she was amazing. Will recommend this place to everyone and hope to return someday.

Loved our time here! Spent 2 nights in room #19. You can tell the owners really thought out every detail which we appreciated. They have videos of the rooms on their website so you can make an informed decision, no surprises. The location is INCREDIBLE. Extremely beautiful with the plants everywhere and the view cannot be beat! All the staff were very friendly and helpful and just so on point! You speak with reception for the kayak, and by the time you walk to the water, another staff is ready with your equipment! Everyone was so dedicated for making sure you had an excellent experience. Food was expensive, and I would suggest making the 10 min walk to Indigo and having much cheaper breakfast/lunch. The hotel food was good as well - we really enjoyed the shrimp pasta and the burger. Would definitely stay here again.

Absolutely incredible property, and their attention to details is impeccable!
Stayed here for 3 nights, and loved every minute. The views of the lakes and mountains are unbelievable, and the place itself is very pretty.

The property is on a cliff, so be prepared to climb a lot of steps. Food options are limited, but mostly good and the service was top notch. We had our Christmas dinner here (family style), and enjoyed our conversations with the other guests and travelers.

We stayed in Room 16, which is higher up. However, it had spectacular views from the room and the patio outside. Highly recommend a stay here!

I was only able to find availability for one night at this hotel, but it was absolutely worth the trek to get there! WOW is all I can say about the views and the grounds. I also had THE BEST massage. The staff was friendly and helpful and made sure I felt welcomed the entire time. Definitely snag a few nights here if you can!

If you are lucky enough to come across this hotel do yourself a favor a book it! It’s a magical special place! From the insanely gorgeous setting of lake Atitlan to the beautiful plants and details all over the property and the lovely staff. I was emotional having to leave this amazing slice of heaven but plan to come back as soon as I can! Thank you so much Casa Del Mundo for sharing the magic of this special place and doing so in such a conscientious and sustainable way for our beautiful Mother Earth 🌍 ✨

Having been to the best accommodations on six continents, this place is equal in charm, service and location with the best elsewhere, the perfect romantic getaway providing you can manage the many steps and vertical nature of cliffside accommodations. Prices were fantastic, and the lake a perfect temperature for cooling off.

The place is very lovely, beautiful, has a breathtaking view. However to get there you must take a motorboat or speedboat which is very unstable and you may get hurt easily because of bad weather, try to sit in the 4th or 5th road of these and you won't feel every hit so much.

Keep that in mind, also you must take a long walk of stairs to get there.

It’s a beautiful place, you can’t deny it! Each room is unique and it’s an experience. The staff are super friendly. You can walk to the next village (jaibalito) for 5 mins and get much better food. For some place that charges American prices, they should consider accepting credit cards.
If you’re looking for a romantic place to relax and not do much, book this place right now. Otherwise, you should still stay at least one night ;)

OMG - this place is out of this world. I stayed in many hotels but this one is truly outstanding and unique. The location overlooking the calm lake, service, cozy rooms with great views, amazingly friendly service, great breakfast, the scenery with several plants, trees and flowers plus the surrounding. Hiking to neighboring villages was a highlight as well. We felt spiritually touched by this oasis and will always remember our time at La Casa del Mundo.

Fantastic experience! Loved nearly everything about this hotel. Everything else from the food, the service, the views, the amenities were amazing. Highly recommend the Guatemalan enchilladas and cacau del mundo hot drink. Also highly recommend the cultural tour of San Juan with Alex and massages with Brenda or Juanita! I am quite a preferential person when it comes to bed and pillow comfort, and neither were out of this world comfortable, but not bad either! Overall an incredible value!

The most beautiful place! Everyone was so welcoming and helpful-recommended activities in towns and helped us with our shuttle. Our room was stunning and we jumped in the lake a few times and enjoyed everything. My favorite part of Lake Atitlán!

This remote gem is so special. The care in the details of the plants, and flowers. Many hammocks and beautiful quiet outside spaces to sit and enjoy the lake and volcano views. Blancie, Jared, and all the staff were sweet and attentive serving food made with love. Vegetarian and vegan options as well as traditional meat dishes. Also, excellent massage therapists, and dos gatos named Oscar and Meowie.

Wow! Just wow! Casa del Mundo was amazing ! Even exceed my expectations. Easily one of the most beautiful hotel I’ve stayed in. Every spot here is picture perfect. The food was pretty good at the restaurant too. Staffs are super friendly and helpful. Only stayed here for two nights which I regretted, should’ve stayed longer.

We stayed 5 nights at Casa Del Mundo at Lake Atitlan and would recommend you research this wonderful boutique hotel before you book another place.

I travel about 100 days each year for vacation travel, mostly in the developing world and Europe. Casa Del Mundo is one of the most outstanding hotels I have stayed in over the past 10 years.

For me the #1 attraction is the natural beauty of the hotel, how it is built into the side of the mountain right on the water, the lush and exotic landscaping and the beautiful rooms that are full of Mayan art.

#2 is the staff. Tony really knows how to manage the whole operation, supervise a very dedicated staff that are well trained to provide the highest level of service possible. He can answer any question you have and provides superior service in meeting every need. Every one who works there looks like they really love what they are doing. A few of them that I remember are Yolanda, Jared, Cindy, and Felipe.

#3 is the food. The Chef really takes pride in creating a menu that has both authentically Guatemalan and international dishes.

#4 is the extra services. I got a message every day. I have had over 300 massages over the past 30 years and the messages I got from Jaunita were the best I have ever had. The only messages that were in her league were in Bali and cost 3 times as much.

My favorite thing to do when I visit a country is to walk around the towns and villages and talk with the people who live there. Tony arranged a private tour, just my friend and me and the guide. Domingo took us to Santiago where his parents, grandparents and other relatives have lived for decades. He knew many people in that town and introduced me to at least 20 of his friends and relatives. He also played interpreter in these conversations as my Spanish isn’t good enough to have in-depth conversations. Then Domingo took us to San Pedro were he was born and still lives and we had many more conversations

You can buy a day pass. Beautiful set up to spend the day to swim and sun tan. The restaurant was good too.

I had an incredible stay at Casa Del Mundo. The view speaks for itself and the service has been incredibly kind, helpful, & prompt. There are so many nooks to relax in, swim in, and hammock in. There are areas that invite socialization with other travelers and areas that you can enjoy solo and not be bothered. I cannot agree with other reviewers here on service. Everyone has been so nice and despite my laughable level of Spanish comprehension I have been able to get by just fine. My waitress telling me the words I am trying to say in Spanish and then when I use them the next morning she gleams. I felt very safe here as a female traveler. If you are expecting a five star prestigious hotel and restaurant move along. There are bugs, no doubt. The staff will come kill or remove the bugs for you with a smile, carry your bags up the zillion steps, organize a midnight arrival after being two hours late, & send you on your way with more appreciation for Guatemala that you arrived with.

Arguably the most atmospheric place to stay on the lake. Rooms are clean and comfortable but very small. But this shouldn’t matter. You are there to enjoy the wonderful common areas and the view. The staff is, for the most part, very good. The food is a little expensive by Guatemalan standards, but it’s good and I wouldn’t say it’s ridiculously expensive. However, budget backpackers might find it overpriced. It’s a very short walk to the tiny village of Jaibalito if you want a cheaper meal. All in all this is a wonderful and very special place to stay with some friends or a special person in your life. Highly recommended.
