I red the restaurant's reviews only when we left and I was very surprised to see some very bad ones. We enjoyed La Lanterna very much. The food was excellent. The atmosphere and the service as well.

The restaurant is in an interesting place and beautiful too. It’s super big and crowded so the service is a bit slow.
But the food quality is very good.
I had the antipasto and the second dish of “Filetto Lanterna”, it was increadible, highly recommended.
The wine was good but not impressive.
We sit outside. We arrived at 8 and and it needed 1 hour until the food arrived.
But above all, the quality was incredible. Recommended.

Food was AMAZING bread was fluffy and chewy, truffle penne was creamy and aromatic. They could have gone heavier on the sauces on that and the gnocchi, but the food quality was so good it was barely a drawback. Service was a little stoic, but we felt well attended. Would return again!

We had an amazing time three nights in a row. Ive had bad luck eating out, so when I find a place I love I tend to stick with it.

First night we tried their fantastic fixed menu of pasta and an entree with choice of side for only €18, a great price considering the quality and location. The second night I had a squid ink risotto over a parsley puree topped with an artfully placed scampo--delightful! Finally, we had their awesome bruschette invernale, and then I had their half calzone half pizza called Vesuvio. The calzone part stuffed with spicy salami and the other half a nice light Margherita to complement it perfectly.

Lovely service and ambiance in a great location with excellent prices. Why go anywhere else?

Incredible Food (and I mean INCREDIBLE), lovely ambience, quick service, appropriate pricing. Skip the Pizza and order from the more regional menue because you'll get something you won't in other parts of Italy. Come to Assisi for the churches, stay for the food.

Large place off the piazza, up the hill towards Rocca Maggiore and worth checking out. A good mix of pizza (the speciality) and other Italian specialties. We had the Caesar salad for lunch was perfect. Notably they have a red ale on tap; my favorite.
