Basilica superiore di San Francesco d'Assisi

This is a must stop for anyone who has a heart for the Saint, Francis. Hope you can get with a tour group to assist in finding all the little treasures of the chapels. The crypt is so well done.

The middle church is the most amazing of the three. Giotto has painted the frescoes , which are a milestone of renaissance painting .

Beautifully preserved! The lower basement is where the remains of St. Francis lie in rest. The time that we went though, the queue was continuous and there was hardly time nor space to pause and venerate the saint. Would love to go back in the off season though.

This is a very popular, religious place San Francisco yellow is it almost in Francis. People believe this is the place that he died and the place that I have some miracles.

Basilica superiore di San Francesco is a particularly beautiful church. The frescoes are beautiful. Although the paintings are multicolored, the interior of the basilica forms a beautiful unity. The earthy colors are reflected in many frescoes. The predominant blue tones in the windows form a beautiful whole with the blue parts of the ceiling.

Awe Inspiring View

Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful churches I had visited in Italy. The frescoes by Giotto school are just magnificent. The place is usually crowded with pilgrims and tourists. There are little explanation of the artworks. It pays to study up before the visit .

Che dire, il posto non ha bisogno di recensioni, è meraviglioso anche per un laico come me, l'arte di Giotto delle pitture interne è splendida, se si ha la fortuna di avere un frate guida (Riccardo) come quello che ho avuto io diventa indimenticabile.
Imperdibile.

Luogo sacro e spettacolare.
Infonde pace e serenità,come lo fa anche la permanenza ad Assisi.
Tutto ben conservato e tenuto.

Consiglierei di prenotare una visita in compagnia dei frati per comprendere a pieno la potenza artistica (compreso Giotto).
Sono vietate le foto all'interno della Basilica.

Dopo aver salito le scale che si trovano nella chiesa inferiore si arriva in una specie di terrazza dove si può vedere il cortile interno e poi è presente il negozio dove puoi acquistare ogni genere di articolo. Salendo pochi gradini arrivi nella basilica superiore tutta affrescata. Bellissima
