It’s true that it’s a famous and crowded tourist attraction, but it’s worth it.
Be aware that there is no store for food or drinks nearby this place. So take your own. And get fully prepared for the chilly weather during the sunset, especially if you plan to take the boat tour.
If you go there by public transportation on weekends, the chances are you might need 30 or more minutes for the bus to come and take you home.

It was worth the wait for the last boat trip at 5.15pm in El Palmar. It was €6 and lasting for an hour. The boat stopped in the middle of the lagoon for passengers to view the sunset. Do wear a jumper. The problem was everything was closed incl restaurants and toilets when the boat trip ended. I had to hang around in the cold for 45 mins for the bus going back to Valencia. Otherwise, the experience was fantastic.

The boat ride is a MUST.
We booked our tickets in advance for the sunset ride. Since it was cloudy, we couldn’t see a perfect sunset but the boat ride was worth. It was an hour ride in total.

You can feel the stillness and calm when they stop the boat in the middle of the lake.

Highly recommend the boat trip from El Tio Pastella. 20 euros for the whole family for about an hour. Great way to see the Albufera.

The sixth natural lake in Europe, Natural Reserve, protected rice production area, a specific economy based on fishing and rice, and special society, subject of literature books from the writer Blasco Ibáñez.

Albufera de valencia natural park is really beautiful and amazing. The lake is really big and amazing . You should try to take a boat tour which is usually around 5 euro or 6 euro if you take sunset trip. In el palmer there are many amazing restaurant near the lake and you can have beautiful lunch and go for boat ride. There are many trails and beach in the area to enjoy.
Must visit place near valencia . You can take bus 24/25 from the Center.

A beautiful protected oasis just 10 minutes by bus from Valencia which will only cost you 2€, both ways.

First thing that I would do, once in Albufera, is to take a boat tour to explore its big lake, where you can learn more about its rich flora and fauna, and its history. You don't need to book a tour in advance since there are many companies that offer such a service and there are always free seats. I recommend going there with some Spanish language background though, because, at least that was my experience, it seems to be that guides there only speak the local language.

After the lake tour, my suggestion is to head to the splendid beach of Playa del Saler (which I already reviewed). On the way you will go through another very nice part of the park, made of dry landscapes and little pine forests. In case you forget to bring some water, no worries there are a couple free water stations and little restaurants scattered around. You shouldn´t forget sunscreen though….

Albufera, a MUST on your Valencia´s TO DO list!

Have been many times and is a great place to visit if a bit difficult to get to with all the drainage ditches but makes it part of the experience. This time we saw the amazing Valencian performer Pepa Cases, a great show.

If you are in Valencia and love nature and dusk then please please take some time to visit this place. An absolutely panoramic view of the sun setting at the end of lake filled horizon. You can also book a boat to yourself to view the sunset. If lucky, you may encounter with the park’s own wildlife that trails like a jungle safari. This is the most enchanting evening spend I had in Valencia. Seriously, don’t miss it.

Great place with a lot of birds and fishes. There are several places where you can eat best paella ever. Also boat trips are spectacular and quite cheap.

When going to Albufera park on your own be aware that the reserve has different areas like area to go walking or area to enjoy paella. If you go to the lovely town El Palmer there is no bush walking, it offers plenty of restaurant options and boat trips but no access to reserve trails. If you want to explore reserve by foot your need to hop off the bus earlier. Search for botanic trail on Google maps - it could be a good starting point.
