Absolutely amazing place to hike, camp in, and complete your Duke of Edinburgh Award. This place makes climbing steep hills so worth it, and although it’s really difficult to walk for a long time in a hilly area, the views at the top are wonderful. Recommended for those who live in the city and countryside.

Lovelly walk for a yone in the outskirts of Tunbridge wells. Loads of dogs and families, and it was very well kept, and of easy access.

This AONB covers an area of the Downs of Kent and East Sussex including the Ashdown Forest where many of the pics were taken. Stunning vistas come into view frequently and you may be rewarded with a flyby of a Spitfire or Hurricane out of Biggin Hill. Enjoy!

View from the Airmans grave and bottom of hill. Our stop for coffee and a snack. Walking across the Forrest has been a blessing during the latest lockdown.

This is a beautiful area of the country. There are endless things to do and beautiful scenery throughout. It can be the perfect escape from a city like London - feels like a comoletly different world!
Some of the things you can do:
Walks: Endless public footpaths, and wherever you go is lovely. You can go more remote in fields surrounding houses, or around bedgebury/bewl are nice
Pubs: Many around and all slightly different, the ones surrounding bewl water are great as you can walk to the reservoir after 👌The Bull inn is great too. Most are reasonably priced.
Cycling: If you know where to look there's some private and challenging mountain biking. Alternatively bedgebury provides a good entry level for the family :) If you'd rather a more relaxed cycle then head onto any of the footpaths more south towards south downs.
Photography: Stunning scenery everywhere, all be it a little green!!
Wildlife: Honestly the best part of the area. Farms are all around and provide a range of animals great for kids to see and name, especially if you come from a city. Then the birds are Beutiful. They fill the air with song and range from Robins to buzzards!
Dining: Whilst dining is sparse in the countryside there are villages in the area that do have some lovely places. Ticehurst has a lovely upmarket pub (The Bell) and towards Robertsbridge there are some more.

All in all its relaxing and perfect for a weekend away!

Dozens of car parks give plenty of options for walking.
Park at Kings Standing or nearby and bask in the sun and take in the views across the forest and beyond.
Or alternatively, chose Church Hill and wander down into the peaceful forest and walk along the stream.
Plenty of well walked paths means you can make a loop on almost any length of walk.

A wonderful cycle ride along bridleways. Sussex is spectacularly vast in places and the High Weald gives a real sense of big sky and rolling hills, massive agricultural fields and just beautiful wooded areas brought alive by penetrating sunshine.

I was brought up in the area but been gone for 40 years! Had forgotten how much tree cover and how ancient everything is. Roman roads, hollowways, churches, Winnie the Pooh etc.

Loved it! We live in East Sussex and have run out of pathways to discover. This area offers extras to our repertoire ie, flora, fauna and geology! 😊
