The Admiral Wells

This pub is absolutely fantastic, if you like proper pub grub for a reasonable price this is the place to visit. The food is always good quality for the price and portion sizes are big. Staff are friendly and inviting. Had the salad recently, great value. The drinks selection is vast and not overly expensive. Had the Steak and Ale pie previously, full of meat, vegetables cooked to perfection and plenty of Gravy.

We really enjoyed our Sunday lunch here. The food was absolutely delicious, all freshly cooked and the portions were very generous. We also had desserts after our meal - oh my, simply amazing! All the staff were super friendly, fantastic and efficient service. The play ground in the garden was an added bonus - certainly kept our little one entertained. Perfect spot for a family meal out. We will definitely be back soon.

One of the best around. Food has always be done to perfection, service is always great with very friendly and welcoming staff. This place is even great for a little drink with the family, there is a decent size play area for the kids with plenty of garden to enjoy the sun. Thank you to the owner and the staff for the quality of service

Food is a generous size but it's good quality, my beef chilli pot had a lovely kick to it. Service was a little slower than on a weekend but was not an issue staff are polite and helpful

Good size carpark and the pub looks nice from outside which makes a great impression. We had a lunch reservation and one of the staff asked if they could help us almost as soon as we got through the door.
Our table was in the bright, airy extension. The selection of beers was good (I normally opt for a session bitter) and the menu was extensive which does hint at a lot of frozen items. Service was good, not all over us all the time, but no real waiting either.
The food was generally excellent, the liver and bacon was cooked perfectly and a joy. The serving size was generous. The beef burger was not so impressive, but in my experience, a great burger is quite rare, but I didn't think this one hit the mark. The fish and chips was also very good and the serving was impressive.
For a lunchtime during the week, there were a few people in having lunch. Our friends had been here the previous weekend when it was busier and they said that the service was just as good and the food no different.
The bill was a nice surprise and made our visit excellent value for money. We will definitely return.

Lots of choice and great service.
We had prawn cocktail which was perfect!
I had the Steak and Ale pie which was fab!
Tender chunks of Steak in a lovely pastry served with a rich proper gravy.
Everything was hot & fresh.
Oh and the log fire was crackling az it was a cooler day....lovely

Unfortunately, I do not have quite enough superlatives to express just how wonderful this restaurant is.
Every dish ever tasted has been amazing. All meals have been flawless, perfect portion sizing and the staff are accommodating.

Certainly a MUST to anyone local and those visting nearby, though booking for any group is essential to avoid disappointment.

Great pub, excellent service and really good food. The food is quite expensive but the quality is very good. The landlord is friendly and the staff are very polite and helpful.

Walked from the nearby Conington Airfield on two evenings after flying. Well greeted and enjoyed two lovely meals here on 2 seperate occasions, Both myself and Son ordered different meals and enjoyed on both occasions.
Nice location and venue, clean and nicely decorated. Staff were friendly & helpful too.

Lovely proper British free house pub. The food is great, really nice chips and the pie is amazing. Been going here for so long, the beers are reasonably priced and always a proper full pint.

Really lovely place! I came here with my mum before I drove back to Newcastle on a Monday afternoon for lunch.
My mum has dietary needs so often has trouble finding something on the menu that she can have, but the menu was varied and offered her so many options! ( she went with the scampi😊)
We both enjoyed our meals and will definitely come back!

Our first visit, six of us for our annual siblings lunch. Nice place, good atmosphere. Service was a little slow but on the positive side we didn’t feel we were being rushed to make room for a later booking, (different pub, different year). The six of us ordered across the menu; two roasts, (one lamb one beef); one pie, (looked home made); one New York chicken; one liver & bacon and one scampi. Food looked lovely, well presented and the plates were hot. Mine certainly tasted as good as it looked, (no photos, we were there to catch up & eat, not photo our food, maybe it’s an age thing 😂), the others in our party were as happy. I have dietary restrictions, (milk & soy), and the staff were happy to check for me. There are vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options on the menu. Because of the age of the building there are steps here and there and no dedicated accessible toilet. However, one of the stalls in the ladies has rails and a raised seat, I can’t speak for the men’s but my husband said it was a bit tight for room. More than one person there was using a wheeled walker, including my husband. All things considered we are hoping to go back there next year.

Went for a meal with some good friends that have lived local for many years and we have just moved to the area,had a great meal and wine will be going back soon

All you could want from a village pub, a good varied food menu, well kept beer, and a good atmosphere
