Hook House

What a great find this place was. Lovely rooms, beautiful house and gardens and very welcoming friendly folk running it. Will definitely come back here again.

We had a great stay in Hook house...such lovely service, they couldn't be more welcoming and helpful. We had an evening in the garden with family, and the pizzas, salads, and paninis are worth a visit here alone.

The owners bought out lawn games that kept our younger family entertained.

Breakfast was delicious, to the point we invited family over to have breakfast in the lovely dining room with us.

Lovely pieces of art around the hotel, too, by the owner that we enjoyed.

Rooms were a little dated but spotlessly clean and adequate. Nice powerful shower. ( we had a small double, room 1 )

We would't hesitate to stay back at hook house and look forward to our next visit with family soon.

I wanted to stay outside London and get a different experience. 5 stars because it is exactly what I expected and it aligns perfectly with the price.

I booked the wrong night because I am an idiot. The reception person was awesome; and we had a laugh and then found an open room. I want you to have a 5 star experience and that starts with the right expectations for the cost and location. Honestly, I enjoyed the Hook House more than the Hotel Renaissance at 2x the price and I am platinum with them.

Rooms and bathroom were clean. Yes everything (furniture) is dated; but that is expectation. The pillows were brutal; but it might be safer that way and again kind of expected. The water was strong and warm with a very functional shower. The towels were way nicer than I expected. As in WOW, if I drove a Jaguar I would have stolen the towels. (A bit of a Jeremy Clarkson joke, I'm not British so maybe this isn't even a joke). I also had super cool Cow pillows and a 3/4 height door; the cool small door is likely only the 3rd floor.

I did not get to enjoy any food; but I do feel I likely missed out on some solid pizza. I walked to the local supermarket and had a meal similar to kids getting off from school, which is exactly my style.

The bottom-line is if you are like me and want something different and get a feel for the local community, then this is exactly what you should book. The walk from the rail station is super simple and is part of the charm and fun.

Nice, relaxed, and dog friendly - just what we were looking for. It's not our first time staying here, and it won't be the last. See you again soon!

Hook House is nestled in lovely, open grounds, surrounded by huge trees. Staff are very friendly and service is always prompt.

I've stayed there twice and thought the excellent pizza was a fluke the first time. I had the exact same pizza as last time and it was just as good! Perfect crispy base, a light tomato sauce and, for me, the right amount of cheese (while I would argue you can never have too much cheese, you certainly can have too little 😎).

Breakfast is a buffet style, which is perfect for me as I like to graze.

We stayed here after a friend's wedding which was nearby. The king room was lovely and tasteful, with a very comfy large bed. Staff were very accommodating to us with our baby. Breakfast was good and plentiful and we had a couple of drinks from the bar. Would recommend. Just a shame we didn't get to try the pizzas! The menu looked great😊

This is our second visit and we absolutely loved out 2 night stay! Such a hidden gem, very clean, lovely breakfast and amazing staff. The lovely lady was generous enough to upgrade our room on our second night, Will visit again for sure :)

Love staying here. Was with HH for a good few weeks as work stuff down the road. Owners and family are lovely, nothing is too much trouble, and the feel of the hotel is great. Very homely. I don't do Breakfast but my colleague thought they were amazing. Lovely grounds, food is good - and they've got cold drinks. I'll be back and I'm not even a Terminator..

Hook house is a really special hotel.... They go above and beyond to make your stay perfect! We stayed here with our wedding party for our wedding and they were so helpful, and really added to a great weekend. The pizza and breakfast was delicious and we loved being there: we can’t wait to come back!

A lovely character Manor House hotel in a perfect setting if you wish to visit Pennybridge Alpaca Farm, which is less than a ten minute drive away.
Lovely, quiet hotel, with spacious comfortable rooms, cosy bar area and a lovely freshly cooked to order, breakfast. Friendly, attentive, but non-obtrusive staff.

Fantastic location, wonderful building and amazing staff. The breakfast was really good and dinner too! The double bed room we had was a nice size with a very comfy bed. The bathroom was nice too with a decent sized shower with good pressure. There is also free parking.

I cannot praise the staff here enough old school charm with modern cleanliness, excellent facilities and amazing food. Kate is an absolute joy of a human who made not just myself feel welcome but my dog too. If you are looking for a dog friendly place then go no further, stay here. I will be returning many times

Nice and quiet hotel. Central for sites and amenities. Food was lovely, especially the artisan pizzas they do in an evening. We had a large room with a garden view, which was superb and the bed was super comfy. Fantastic value for money.

We held my friends baby shower at hook house hotel. Everyone had a great time and commented on how lovely the grounds are, and how it was a the perfect setting. (We were very lucky with the weather). The food (we chose a finger buffet with a mixture of sandwiches and hot food) was amazing and there was so much we even had some boxed up to take home.
It couldn’t have been a more perfect afternoon. Thank you ☺

We ran a corporate retreat at Hook House and could not have been more happy with our choice. The staff were truly wonderful, took care of every detail we requested and many we didn’t, and made it feel more like a home than a hotel. Could not recommend more highly.

The house is lovely and rooms comfy - so if booking for yourself it is also highly recommend.

Staff and service excellent they were always able to meet our requests with a smile and a kind word. Room clean and Very dog friendly. Food was excellent and we would recommend trying their pizza menu. A great location and great people recommend you visit.

I have been all over hotels in Basingstoke but this place does it for me.Firstly the welcome is real,I got lost and when I called I could literally feel the smile through the phone,and a wave to help direct me.
I mean friendly is not good enough to describe the atmosphere I felt at home.
I have seen fake smiles but not here,it is original and undisputed reality.
The food was fantastic..I cant complain
Very clean.
Staff had time for each individual.

I would highly recommend the Hook House Hotel. The service was faultless and the venue was perfect for what I needed, somewhere clean and comfortable to work for a couple of days whilst undertaking other engagements. I will definitely be back!
