Food was delicious, and it is clear that the owner is super passionate about food and ingredients. Good level of service. Atmosphere warm and welcoming. Highly recommended. The only top tip is to double-check your booking. The booking system seems a little temperamental.

Fantastic food. They have a specials board and are so passionate about their food. They were so good at catering to allergies, I didn't feel that anything was compromised on. The fillet was perfectly cooked and after we retired to the sofas to enjoy another pint. We will definitely be back.

Really friendly atmosphere. We had a great experience, the food was amazing. They ran through the menu when we sat down, and they just really 'know' the food they're serving. Really great with allergies too.

Great evening here with great food. Only very slight negative is they forgot to offer a drink before trying to take the food order but that wasn't a problem for me. I would defo recommend.

Lovely old fashioned pub in very tranquil surroundings. The food is incredible, with some amazing choices. I had the fillet of beef for a main course and the taste is to die for. If you have not been here, definitely give it a try, I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Visited with 20 other work colleagues for dinner and was blown away by the service and food quality along with some great gamey options, e.g. wild pig and venison scotch egg. The host was so friendly and welcoming and catered for some tough dietary requirements without any issues, I think he was making up dishes on the fly!
Meals were not only tasty but large in size as well, was disappointed I couldn't fit any pudding in!
Thoroughly recommend and will be back next time I'm over.

Great tasting food with engaging staff and a friend-of-the-family atmosphere. The venison was so tender and flavoursome, and a lovely dish to follow the wild boar gnocchi which was gobbled up by all. Definitely worth going back to!

Absolutely fantastic food! Chef knows what medium rare is, cuts of meat are full of flavour and are cooked to perfection. Was almost a shame to eat a work of art! The chef clearly loves his work and it shows in the quality of food that he serves.
Would be there every week if I lived nearby! Wonderful service, staff are great, owner is friendly and extremely accommodating when it comes to requests. Amazing history of the pub itself is fascinating to hear.

What a Gem! Went for a walk and stumbled across this little beauty! Staff are incredibly friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable about the food and drinks they serve. The food... well just delightfully delicious! We had a grouse starter which was beautiful. For mains the steak gnocchi and duck sausages both were lovely dishes. Definitely will be returning to this gorgeous restaurant and would advise if you fancy something scrumdidliumptious head over there. Also the decor is a classy mix of old wooden beams and mood lighting. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

Wow! What a gem! We visited on a bit of a whim, looking for somewhere for a nice Sunday dinner. The pub is beautiful and cosy and the experience matched it perfectly. The team were very friendly and attentive. I've travelled all over the world and this was probably the best meal I've had - fresh, flavourful, well thought out but far from complicated. You can instantly tell from the presentation and smell that the chef knows his trade and is passionate and this is only confirmed by the taste experience. We will definitely be coming back!

Great food. Not fancy it pretentious, but really good ingredients, very well cooked. Locally sourced food that clearly has a lot of thought behind it. The perfect place for a really good meal.

Absolutely worth the detour if travelling in the M3. Really delicious food.
The owner greeted us and explained the menu, adding information about the meat and fish and how they chose to prepare it based on what they had received. That was really helpful.
Everything was cooked perfectly. The dauphinoise and haggerty potatoes have a special mention.
If you aren't full, make sure to try one of the desserts!

Varied menu cooked by some very good chefs. Service friendly and efficient, could not fault the staff or owner. A good English pub with loads of character. A fair price for the quality of food, cooking and service.

Came here for the first time last week and loved the experience; there was a fantastic selection of food on the menu including rabbit, duck, pheasant and trout. Not such a good place for veggies (but what else would you expect from the name?!). We especially liked the black pudding arancini we had to start. The landlord / owner is a very friendly guy who took a lot of time to explain the menu to us - this was a really nice touch. Would highly recommend.

First time visit and will go back. Food was lovely and extremely filling. Felt very welcomed and as others have said, they are passionate about their food and with good reason.

The road in isn't the best so go careful if you have low profile tyres. Not the Gamekeepers fault, usual UK roads!

Really good food, special atmosphere where the owner reads the menu and answers any and all questions. We had a large party of about 23 people and all were extremely happy with dinner.
