The rooms are really good when you are visiting alone or has a couple or family if you do not snore heavily 😂however the service is good and the rooms are kept clean along with a clean bathroom too.
The location is good even though it is situated on a road as it is a old building but looks lovely and cosy too, the food is lovely and you get breakfast and tea with a three course meal and your choice to decide what you would like that morning to eat that evening.
The staff are lovely and friendly and helpful with whatever you want whether that be changing rooms, blanket for your room or something else.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was large light and airy. Good breakfast. The hotel is large and caters for coach loads of people. Very friendly atmosphere. Very close to the station for a train trip to Barmouth or further. No parking but have an understanding with council.

We stayed here for New Year. We had a fantastic time. We were a party of 4 and none of us could fault the hotel. The staff were all brilliant and the food was really good. The rooms were lovely and clean and the bed was lovely and comfy. Spotless bedding and towels. If you needed anything extra you just had to ask. Will definately be booking again. Thank you Alfa.

One very very good hotel. Nice looking inside and out our room had all that was required. The hotel had plenty of lounge space. Never tried the bar as the Bryn arms over the road had me hooked. Food service and choice excellent as was the quality of every meal we ate was enjoyed. Plenty of staff for quick service. ( or likely worked so hard) would most definitely stay again

George IV Hotel
Room: 222, twin, reasonable size, second floor, plenty of storage space and adequate plugs.

Bathroom: small but functional, shower was spacious, but was a bit lacking in power, did the job though.

Food:
Breakfast
Grapefruit pieces and cereals on the buffet with orange and apple fruit juices, full British fried breakfast was excellent quality, made to order. Porridge, toast and teas or coffees offered by servers. Toast was served after main breakfast, which is different from other hotels in the group, personally prefer the toast before the main breakfast then you can eat with it or when you like.

Dinner
Disclaimer: I really don't like the change of order to the dinner menu this year, last year was better spead out, this year feels very, very repetitive, as you will see.

Sunday, Starter: seasonal melon with mixed berries nice, reasonable portion, Main: Roast topside of beef, very nice, especially the red cabbage, Pudding: peach melba, very nice, big portion.

Monday, Starter: Kiwi and Mandarin Salad, would have liked more than one tiny piece of Kiwi, Main: Roasted Pork with stuffing, apple sauce, nice, but too similar to Sunday, Pudding: Banoffe Pie, quality and portion size were perfect.

Tuesday, Starter: fruit juice, didn't fancy any of the options, Main: Braised Beef Casserole, nice but again similar to Sunday and Monday. Pudding: Rice Pudding, delicious, big portion, nice star pattern with the jam.

Wednesday, Starter: Yorkshire Pudding filled with shredded beef in gravy (literally just the beef casserole with a Yorkshire Pudding - do you see what Imean about repetitive?) Main: Roasted chicken with a red wine and shallott gravy, very nice but again similar to previous days, Pudding: Chef's Cheesecake, a Cheesecake topped with mixed fruits (a neighbouring table had more fruit than ours, I was jealous)

Thursday, Starter: Mixed melon and Pineapple would have liked more than two pieces of pineapple, otherwise very nice Main: Roast Gammon without the mustard and honey sauce, good quality gammon. Pudding: Apple Pie, good portion, very nice custard.

Friday, Starter: cheese tartlet, big portion for a starter was nice enough, Main: cottage pie with chips, didn't need to chips, the pie was very hot! Once it cooled down and stopped burning my mouth, it was delicious, Pudding: syrup sponge with custard, was nice, a bit boring for a final pudding.

Bar: prices are reasonable for Pepsi in a bar. Entertainment is what you expect for the target audience, mostly a decent standard. Bingo, great fun, but only one game unlike over hotels in the group where you get 3, good money prizes though.

Staff: all really polite and worked really hard to serve us as best they could, the waiting staff are almost competitive with their service.

WiFi: was patchy in public areas, worked consistently in the room (222) and the entertainment room, but barely at all in the dining room, it was a little sluggish regardless of where you were though.

Driver: Chris, the Scouser is full of jokes, interesting information, and always doing everything to help. His stories are the stuff of legends, you know there's a punchline coming just a matter of when. His driving skills were put to the test on the narrow roads, he handled it all like a pro! (My second favourite driver, after Tony from the Fort William tour). Really enjoyed the trips to Portmeirion (highlight of the tour for me), Barmouth, Snowdon mountain railway, the stop in Llandudno on the way to Criccieth instead of a service station. Chris also took us to Pwllheli, Caernarfon and Betws-Y-Coed (on the way home)

Had a lovely 5 day stay here for my husband's birthday. Staff are lovely and very friendly. Food was good. Rooms are spotless and our double room was huge with a lovely view of the castle. Lovely little village with some stunning views from the walk along the esplanade. Handy for Pwillheli, Porthmadog and Caernarvon.

Great hotel with friendly staff. Stayed two nights, did not go to entertainment but did visit the little bar where we were well taken care of. Very nice breakfast. Within walking distance of the beach, a lot of very interesting storefronts and some very tasty local restaurants all close by.

Spacious rooms, lovely building with original features. Cheap, well stocked bars. The staff are incredible people who cannot do enough for you. The restaurant offers a remarkable choice with dietary needs catered to. The food and service are second to none. Well placed hotel right next to transport links.

Absolutely fantastic Manager, Reception and all Staff are so accommodating.
Food was excellent every meal was very hot and good choices.
The towels were bath sheets which was lovely to have big towel
I would certainly recommend and return to the hotel.
I spent New Year 2019/2020 and had a fabulous time
Only one thing I would change is New Years day we had a cooked meal at lunch time and another cooked meal at evening time .I would cut the lunch time meal and replace with a buffet.
Thankyou for a great time.

The George is an old hotel with a lovely charm about it. We had a beautiful extra large room at the top with a front facing room and a view of the castle. Food was excellent and lovely friendly staff. Just a 10 minute walk from the sea front and the castle.
