We spent Christmas here this year and it was absolutely lovely. The staff went above and beyond considering how busy they were and were working over Christmas, we were so grateful for their kindness. The room was very small (especially as I had a dog with me) but everything was clean, warm and modern (within keeping of the building). The inn itself was picture perfect with warm welcoming bar and restaurant rooms that had a great atmosphere. The food was also good. Would highly recommend it and would definitely go back.

We had such a beautiful Sunday dinner here. We managed to grab a table at the bar with our dog after hovering around as its first come first serve. Beautiful pub inside really giving off that warm pub feel. We had vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters and everyone was catered well for. Thanks so much

A simply beautiful establishment with a warm homely feel all round. So glad we booked to have food here this evening. The food was simply fantastic, the beef wellington was absolutely spot on. Staff were very attentive and friendly and all food for us was on point. Beautifully decorated within and the open fire finished off the country pub feel to it. We all left very happy with our experience. We will definitely visit again in future.

Stunning pub, apparently the oldest in the country, Saxons were fighting vikings when this pub was built (not fact checked).

Whether eating or drinking, this pub is worth a visit. Similar menu to Sheep on sheep street from across the street, just incase you plan on eating at both.

Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Food was great too! Dog friendly too of this is something you are looking for!

Ambient lighting and decor throughout is gorgeous, really sets the mood 👌 Great for couples as well as families. Highly recommended if you are in the area, worth travelling to from surrounding villages too. We didn’t stay here so can’t comment on the accommodation.

Lots of history with this old pub ⭐ 🐕‍🦺🍻🍾🍔🥗🍗🥘🍛🧙‍♂

We had a lovely breakfast on our way out of town over the weekend and now we can’t wait to come back! It is warm and inviting (both decor and staff) and the eggs Benedict along with a cup of tea/coffee were divine. Thanks guys!

We had dinner here last night. We were sat on the table next to the stunning open fire. Our waitress was fantastic and the food was delicious. We didn’t feel rushed and the wine list had a great selection. The venue is gorgeous. Would definitely recommend.

We love it here. Excellent food. Always very friendly staff who aim to please.
The ambience is perfect for the area, unlike many of our local pubs who have now gone very “Londonesque!”
Tables not so close that you almost feel the need to join in neighbours conversations. A gorgeous ‘snug’ for pre or post dinner drinks.
Everything just perfect. Thank you.

We had Sunday roast here at it was delicious. The sticky toffee pudding was also one of the best I’ve had. Friendly and helpful staff and a great pub to visit.

We had a very special stay at the porch house. We were lucky enough to get a last minute booking, the cosiest little room. The room was clean, comfortable and had all the amenities. Our dinner was excellent, some of the nicest food we’ve had. But the staff specifically made our night (I wish I took down the gentlemen’s name but he was so funny and very friendly). Thank you to the also very lovely guy that served us breakfast. You all made our engagement weekend delightful.

I don’t say this lightly, but you must eat here if you’re in Stow. The food was incredible (falafel salad, peri peri chicken & 2 desserts). The service was incredible. We didn’t feel rushed, it wasn’t overly loud and it was just extremely cozy. We have reservations elsewhere tomorrow and I’m trying to switch them so that we can go back. Highly recommend for anyone.

As pubs go in England, you won’t find an older hostelry than this. Quite amazing how it’s retained lots of its character. Looks like an amalgamation of several buildings over the centuries so on a split level. A couple of Brakspear ales on cask to savour whilst you take in the stunning surroundings.

Food only: had the mushroom pie, soup of the day, hummus, and the fresh bread with homemade butter. Everything was delicious and the service was great. Highly recommend!

This location boasts at being the oldest inn in England, est. 947 AD. While we did not stay at the inn, we returned for a second dinner during our stay at Stow. The interior is beautifully preserved with charm, and the staff stood out to us as the kindest in the area. Both nights we went we were very impressed with the service and the food. They also seem to serve food a bit later than other pubs in the area. Try the sticky toffee pudding for dessert! You won’t be disappointed!

we were here in the summer of 2022, it was amazing, the people, the staff, the hotel, the food and the town could not have been better. This is my favorite place in the world and we cant wait to travel from Toronto and visit again, the ownership should be very proud of the staff and management, they are doing an amazing job. This is a must stay for anyone in area. Well Done.
