This was very nice pub with so lovely people serving the food and drinks, and made us feel so comfortable and welcomed.

We'd definitely go back there.

The food was tasty and gorgeous. The garlic bread was so good 😁😋

The food was absolutely amazing, I think the best Sunday lunch I've ever had! Succulent beef, cooked to perfection. The vegetables were crunchy, but not raw and the roast potatoes were delicious. The service was quite slow, bearing in mind not many customers, so that let them down slightly.

We didn't book, but we was made very welcome and table allocated for us, the food was amazing, I had the scotch egg for starters(delicious) o/h had the smoked salmon, looked very nice. For mains we had Northumberland sausage, bubble and squeak with cabbage,(really nice and very filling) and fish and chips (amazingly flaky fish).
A really nice meal, atmosphere was lovely, would definitely come back. Thank you.

Lovely food, not a huge selection but enough to keep everyone happy. Vegetarian options, smaller children's options too. Good selection of beers of draft including a few local beers.
Nice selection of deserts, but felt they could have been a little bigger and better presented.
Friendly, polite staff.
Overall 5 stars!

A lovely place great staff tables cleaned before we sat down. Main meals are excellent and the Fish and Chips are amazing. Also good sandwich and burger menus. Felt really comfortable with table layout and the overall atmosphere. Prices are good as was the service. Also a good selection of local beers and other drinks. We have been before so we knew it be good.

You’ll have to book to avoid disappointment but needless to say we got lucky and got a tiny cosy table next to the fire and it was lovely on a cold day.

We’ve been here before for other meals but decided let’s go for a Sunday Lunch! We both ordered the Beef as we fancied it, I got the smaller portion but it was enough to last me through the day. Plus we had bread that came from a local bakery as well for starters.

I’m not a fan of pickles and red cabbage but I did manage to eat some, so not deducting points for this, I just moved it aside. Service was great from start to finish. Definitely will visit again in the future and will request for the table by the fire.

We were a group of ten and we'd booked at 3pm. The pub was busy but we were looked after and the food was definitely worth the wait. I had the silverside of beef that had been slow cooked...it was delicious with a really nice selection of vegetables. The dessert of a peanut butter slice and a flat white coffee ended a lovely lunch. Highly recommended.

Had a really great evening here as part of a large family group. We had a big table for 12 of us across the back of a lovely cosy room. Great atmosphere, friendly service and good food. The burgers were very good - even got the seal of approval from the very fussy 10-year-old, which is not an easy accolade to earn!

Traditional pub with a modern twist. THE go-to pub in Hexham hands down!
Fantastic range of ales & wines, incredible food (well priced, great quality) AND 2 open coal fires!! What’s not to like?! Sunday lunches here are to die for !! Manager is super friendly & welcoming as well.

Early evening booking, dog welcome, food intolerances catered for, food excellent. Not excessively noisy, but not deathly quiet! Beer went down well, service and timings spot on. Made another reservation for later in the week, which is probably the real verdict.

A nice pub with a good selection of beers and ales. We had a sunday lunch and it was fabulous, really tasty with lots of beef and assorted veg. Not the cheapest but worth every penny, well worth a visit.

Booked Sunday lunch during a visit to Hexham, based upon other reviews. Lovely pub, located close to Hexham Abbey.

We chose the smaller Sunday lunch option, which was still a substantial meal and under £10 per person. Great quality and wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommended - book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Beautiful part of the world and is well worth the, sometimes, difficult drive. Great places to see, walk, eat, and drink. Sycamore Gap is breathtaking, but it is a little bit of a walk and could be dangerous, so make sure you have the right footwear and clothing. There is a dedicated pay and display car park nearby. Make sure you give yourself plenty of daytime hours to get there and back. And beware of the free roaming cattle. They're big beasts, lol. Highly recommended, and I will definitely visit again 👍🏾

Dropped in on the spur of the moment, not really expecting to get a table.
They were so helpful and somehow fitted us in between reservations.
The food was lovely, the beer was tasty, and everyone was very polite, friendly and helpful.
