Interesting building to visit, we enjoyed dressing up in the court room and exploring the cells. Free to enter but donations welcome.

Wow what a gem of a museum and a bonus that its free, I had no idea shire hall was the court room used to find John Frost guilty. Very good video on the trial, so interesting, plus you can also dress up. You can also see the holding cells. Lots to see very good for children well worth a visit.

Well worth a look if you're in town. Entry was free and the staff were very helpful. The stairs from the court room to the cells are a little steep but there is a lift available if needed.

Impresive building and focus of the Agincourt Square with its livey hostelries.

The portico is sometimes used as a market place selling curios and craft goods. From soap to silverware.

Great interactive displays in historic courthouse. Entry free of charge. You would pay a fortune to see places like this in other towns!

Loved our visit here.
The court rooms were a brilliant visit as were the cells in the cellar. Seeped in history of the chartists march and trial.
Loved the walk around, loved the history and even got a free book on the way out. Excellent

The staff were so friendly as we entered and made us feel welcome. The building itself is interesting and the court is set up so takes little imagination to see whar justice would have looked like in years gone by. The cells are worth looking at too. Interesting 70s display that was really well presented and reminded me I'm old enough to be a museum piece myself!

One of the best tourist information centres I have visited. Good explanations of the old uses of the building. We thought that the young lady member of staff, who greeted us, was very helpful and friendly.

An amazing piece of history central to the town of Monmouth. Serving many functions including; town council, community hub, tourist information and historical visitor attraction amongst many others. Open to the public to have an explore, you can see the old court rooms, and the jail cells in the basement, staff on site are helpful and very knowledgeable of the history of the site and what's happening in and around Monmouth. Well worth a stop.

On Tuesday we were married in the Historic Courtroom at Shire Hall.
From the lady registrars to the staff who acted as our witnesses, everyone was so kind and helpful ...A special mention goes to Tristan for organizing it all whilst he was working from home ...We are looking forward to the grand tour when the lock down is lifted ...So to a beautiful old building in our town ,and really helpful and professional staff ,thank you .We came home and raised a glass of bubbly to them all .

This excellent urban hub is home to important Chartist heritage, but also serves as a performance venue and meeting rooms. Versatile and rippling with historical value, this building is a real asset to Monmouth.

Great little market on Friday and Saturday, especially good is Andy's record stall with a huge selection of vinyl, a collectors dream and he's there all year round 📀
