Really peaceful place. I went to this place after watching the movie THE DIG, some scenes were filmed here so it was fantastic to be in the same place. Lots of birds and animals, if you are in the evening you can see the good sunset. Definitely would recommend for the walk also look out for the seals in the river sometimes.

Magical. Remote. Serene. A natural wonder.
Blown away by my first sighting of Black-tailed Godwits in the first pool and at least 12 Avocets, most with chick's. The walk takes in the sea bank with views across the Boyton River and up to Havergate Island and River Orf. Quite a few pools to check out with breeding wading birds. Seals on the banks of the river and endless views of beauty. No Tea Room. No toilets. Come prepared. Car Park has room for 8 cars, so don't all pile in at once. The ferry is manned in Summer at weekends, which gets you across the Boyton River and on the path to Orford. Check ferry times first.

Quaint nature reserve, we spotted quite a few birds near the Eastury.

One of my favourite places in the world. Always feels so remote, a ton of wildlife and a beautiful walk by the Butley River up to the Ore

Nice place to go for a walk, quiet with great views of the coast. You can catch the butley ferry in the summer months to Orford if you fancy.

Off the beaten track nature reserve along a still isolated stretch of Suffolk coast. Will inspire & reward anyone alike myself whose favourite environment is estuary. The views here are awe inspiring & it's possible to observe a storm front arriving from the North Sea, long before it reaches land. The local bird life is as varied & prolific as you can find in such an isolated stretch of salt marsh-cum-water meadows. In the winter the location is absolutely bleak & unwelcoming, but hardcore birdwatchers still flock here due to the migrating birds. Don't be put off by the vicinity to the nearby 'open prison', its inmates are not allowed to stray off-site...

Very peaceful. I saw a jellyfish in the river which was my highlight.

Beautiful special place with great views across the water and marshes...our first visit to reserve. Saw lots of birds and very few people.
Spotted little egrets, grey heron, butterflies, dragonflies and some beautiful brown and white cows and their calves. Good views towards Orford.in the nicest possible way do come but not in large numbers please!

We had a lovely walk along the coastal path. Plenty to see including a Marsh Harrier, Roe Deer, Linnets, Reed Bunting, Egrets, Heron, Tiger Moth, plenty of goslings and to our surprise a Spoonbill in the mere close to the entrance.

I love this place. If it's just a walk you want or wildlife to watch it's beautiful. You have the coastal path which will take you to Shingle St. There is also a hide overlooking the scrape.

Beautifully desolate. Good for seeing wading birds (including a few curfews last year) and taking in the windswept views of the Butley estuary where it meets the Ore. I really have to take the Butley ferry over to Orford one day.

Great place to stop for a dog walk, if you continue down the track the dogs can go swimming in the estuary, just be weary of the strong currents. Lovely little cafe at the car park also

This is a wonderful place for bird watching. There are so many swans located far away from the foot path.

Beautiful quiet and peaceful part of the world. Lots of birds to see and some are very close up. Don't go when it's windy.
