Royal Lodge

Stayed here for 2 night!! Was actually a red letter say voucher we had been given! We arrived and were greated by a very friendly lady who helped us with everything we needed. The room was beautiful we stayed in room one, big bed and modern bathroom overlooking the river. We had a few drinks in the bar and dinner in the restaurant. Menu was good and food was outstanding. My only criticism is maybe the price of the wine menu. We most definitely will be back to visit again. Thank you to all the staff we met and spoke with.

Just home from a really lovely weekend at The Royal Lodge. We received the warmest of welcomes from the two ladies on Reception when we arrived. They were both so friendly and we felt immediately at home. Throughout our stay, all of the staff that we had contact with, were friendly, helpful and professional. We experienced two different rooms during our stay and both were really well appointed, with the most comfortable beds and amazing views over the river. This is a beautiful spot, with lots of lovely walks from outside the hotel. We ate at the hotel restaurant for all meals during our stay. The food was exceptional and the portion sizes were large. Service was great and we felt very well looked after throughout. This is a really dog friendly hotel and our own dog certainly enjoyed her stay, with some of her own treats when we ate and lots of fuss from fellow guests and staff. We enjoyed our stay so much that we've booked to return over New Year. Highly recommended.

Stayed here for a couple of nights with my husband and dog. The room was ideal for us. Very quiet and warm (February).The staff were very friendly too. Lovely place if you're into walking like us.

I always stop here for a drink on the cycle through symonds yat... and finally had some time off to stay here for two nights with the doggies.

The staff are always so nice to me and always make me feel very welcome.
They also made the dogs very happy and they got spoilt too !

My room was overlooking the wye. Spacious. Lovely bath and was amazing to watch the nature from my window.

The food was lovely ! Highly recommended the spaghetti bolognese .

You can access the path to yat rock from just outside the hotel. There are many hikes ... cycling trails and adventures to be had from the doorstep of the hotel !

I really enjoyed my stay... and the doggies did too. I will 100% be back to stay.

We had a great couple of nights at the Lodge. All of the staff were so friendly, it really felt like home. The lounge area was great to play games in of an evening, and the breakfast was absolutely stonking! So good!

We booked because the lodge was dog-friendly and in a great location and it didn't let us down. If I was looking for a more luxurious or dog-free break I would pick somewhere else, but for somewhere that felt like home (without the cooking and cleaning) where everyone was friendly, and where your pet is welcome, I don't think you could find a better place. Thank you to everyone for making our stay so wonderful!

We popped in on Sunday to see if they had a table for a family of 4 for lunch. We were welcomed and shown to a lovely table besides a roaring fire where we had the roast dinner (my 10 year old( and the afternoon tea (more than enough for 2 adults and a child to chare). Service was excellent and the food was amazing. Would definitely recommend!

Thank you to all the super welcoming staff in the restaurant at The Royal Lodge we had an amazing time fabulous Sunday lunch and relaxing afternoon playing games. Unfortunately another guest upset us when she complained about our dogs who were exceptionally well behaved lying under the table but barked occasionally, not sure why as we were making the most of the welcoming dog friendly hotel . Some people are very strange.

A big thanks to the staff at the Royal Lodge who found our lost dog Fleur yesterday, caught her, kept her safe and called us to let us know and pick up after a frantic day chasing reports around the Symonds Yat area. Really appreciate your care. Mark

Just returned from a great weekend away as a family. This was a perfect base for us to get outside and explore the Forest of Dean, with lots to do close by. The staff were so helpful and anything we needed they accommodated us. Room was spacious and comfortable, had a great night's sleep. Food was superb. The location and views were the icing on the cake for me. Waking up to the views over the river was just amazing. We will be back! Thanks for a great time

I have just had a birthday celebration at The Royal Lodge, Symonds Yat East, which was wonderful! The staff were really helpful throughout, the rooms very comfortable and clean and the food amazing!
It was a perfect venue in a beautiful location. Definitely a 5* stay! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Came for a meal to the royal lodge - service and food were absolutely superb. Staff were more than accommodating to meet our needs and went above and beyond to ensure they were helpful.

The food was absolutely 5*, some of the tastiest meals myself and my partner have had and was served in a good timely manner.

The views from the restaurant are beautiful too and you feel so relaxed and peaceful whilst day enjoying your meal.

Highly recommend and we will definitely be back!

A gorgeous dogs friendly hotel in a picturesque location. We stayed just overnight but had a great time. Food and drinks are a bit pricy but it's worth it as everything was so tasty.

Don't hesitate to book at this fantastic hotel!

I married my husband at The Royal Lodge 12 years ago and it is one of my favourite places. The day itself was so special and perfectly relaxed. The hotel was well organized and the most beautiful riverside setting for our fantastic day.

Every time we've revisited the hotel the wonderful team have never disappointed us. They've always made us feel so welcome, the accommodation is up to date and spotless; plus every meal has been cooked to perfection - hungry just thinking about the food! I can't thank these lovely people enough for the memories that have been created.

We'll definitely be back again soon!

Stopped off for a quick break from the motorbike. Found it by mistake and followed the signs down from the main road. Worth a visit on a nice hot day. Sat in the garden watching the world go by down there was great with a cool drink. Lane and car park can be very busy though!

2 night stay in a beautiful location. Friendly and very warm and welcoming staff. Breakfast and dinner was fantastic along with the service..

A fantastic stay. Thank you Graham and all the staff for making sure my daughter and son in law had the best wedding day possible. Everything was perfect the setting, the food and the rooms. Graham went above and beyond to make the day go smoothly

Had an impromptu dinner here last night. Food was absolutely stunning, very generous portions. Staff was lovely and friendly. Graham the man in charge was very efficient, served us quickly and hung around for a friendly chat. Lots of outdoor seating to take in the lovely surroundings.

Had dinner & early evening 🍻 with 20 people. Great location. Lovely meals, big portions. Could not eat the salad on scampi. Wife the same on Cod. Do go

Myself and my partner had a lovely steak here, beautiful cooked the service was brilliant also everything was served in a timely fashion and the staff were fantastic!

The wine on offer was also to my partners liking.

Will definitely be coming back and to have another meal especially when you can it with a view of the River Wye on a summers evening it was perfect.

They were also helpful when we asked to see some of the rooms for any events or weddings.
