We went for a walk around the reserve up to Normanton very enjoyable and easy going, lovely postcard village and pub for refreshments. About an hours walk each way.

Wanted a quiet day out, so choose this place . What a fantastic day watching the ospreys, Hobby, and tuffed duck, to name a few. Will come back. The scenery was amazing.

If you love Ospreys this place is really special, the views of the lake from the hides are brilliant, the staff are knowlegable and passionate about the birds. Peaceful nice walk and enjoying something spectacular if you see the birds fishing. Look out for the cormorant tree as you wander along, sometimes they are so still they look like branches of the tree.

A great place to start your visit to Rutland Water Nature Reserve. We'll illustrated with images and notes about the reserve and its setting.
Refreshments available, and we sampled the ice cream on our visit.
A pass to the nature reserve and the 'hides' is a must. Birds on the water and in the air in abundance. From a flotilla of beautiful swans to ducks, and of course the nesting osprey and their young.
A waterside rest for the spirit and uplift for the body as you walk the waterside...
The access road is steep, but well paved, and leads to a car park for the Centre at the bottom of the hill.
Just marvellous!

Reviews were right... Amaaaaazing staff. So friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Didn't realise 60yr olds get concessionary rate....I paid full price... I suppose it was good not to be questioned!
Great wildlife. My focus was photography and I saw an osprey dive and catch a fish! Saw a little grebe... With a little grebe! 2 of them and 2 eggs. So close. Great dragonflies too. Can't wait to go back!

Visited in April 2021. A very good place to see wildlife, most notably the ospreys which live in Manton bay during the summer. Views are normally distant, but on occasion the ospreys will either fly very close to the hides, or start fishing in the bay

Learned quite a lot today at the visitor centre about the Osprey project and with a live feed from the nest to a large TV for you to watch. Staff are great plus drinks and cakes are very good. Lots of information on the walls about the nature reserve. Plenty to purchase if you so wish. A great monocular with good range for you to use. A few hides around the reserve too. Loved the sculpture near the entrance.

Fabulous few days spent at this reserve. We stayed just up the road in our Motorhome with our 2 dogs and this reserve was our "go to" place, absolutely amazing to see the Ospreys, even though my camera long lens isn't quite long enough I did get a couple of reasonable shots to remind me of the wonderful time we had. Last Friday in the large Osprey hide the warden (I didn't get his name) was so knowledgeable and friendly, explaining lots of the different species, so Interesting, Thank you so much to him as with his help I got a nice photo of a Sedge Warbler, something we don't see where we live.
Superb place, we will definitely be returning.
