Down the Hatch

Just come back from breakfast at Down the Hatch in Port Edgar.
We had the Canadian and Argentinian skillet breakfast along with coffee and juice (their meal deal).
Lovely friendly staff and tasty food. We sat outside and their picnic tables only just accommodates a wheelchair diner if they sit on the end - would be great to see a better piece of furniture so a wheelchair user can get their knees under the table.
Look forward to trying their dinner menu soon.

This is a really lovely wee restaurant. The food was so good I didn't get a photo until we where done.
Huge portions of really good food for a brilliant price. The menu had something for everyone, We where there for breakfast and even then the choice was great!
Hubby took me for a birthday brunch after he went to the one in Edinburgh for a stag do and really enjoyed it. I'm a huge plant fan as well so the outside area was my kind of place. Sadly it was too cold to sit out there but the inside was lovely too, a little like a fishing shack but purposely done so it was cosy and comfortable.
The staff where extremely cheery and really helpful, great service and atmosphere between the staff members was really friendly.
Highly recommend. We will definately be back again ☺.

First time going and was greeted by a happy person 😁 hadn't book so had to initially sit outside , they kindly turned on the overhead heaters as I was only in a T-shirt and quite obviously cold , I settled down with the menu and was about to pick my meal of choice when approached to say there was a space inside if id like !!! Perfect ordered the Scottish Skillet and the Mexi Skillet for a friend , the food was quick to arrive and it did not disappoint. I heartily recommended, a great selection and I will be going back 😁

What a find. 😊Lovely place. Amazing food and nice selection. Good drinks too. very good service and staff. Definitely return if I lived closer. I left saying it's the best breakfast I've had.

Been here a few times since moving to the area - twice for breakfast and for lunch. Such a great little place! Staff are so friendly and helpful. Food is delicious, always busy when I’ve been which tells a lot - highly recommended!

Just a big pot of tea for two/me at Breakfast would be the icing on the cake.

My partner had visited a few times and couldn't wait to take me. I was not disappointed, the food was so good.

I had one of the burgers and he had the buffalo sandwich both were very tasty. We also got two milkshakes, nice and thick American style ones, lovely but can be a job to drink. He got the maple poutine he said tasted good not too sweet. I had the haggis poutine which worked so well together the spices from the haggis gave an extra dimension to it. I highly recommend it.

Can't wait to go back and take our kid along with us.

A gem of a place. Delicious brunches that will keep you full all day. Friendly staff. Parking free for 3 hours if you enter your vehicle details on the device by the door.

We went in and were greeted straight away. All of the staff members were friendly and helpful. We ordered burgers and chips. We also ordered milkshakes. We had no complaints about the food. My only puzzle was that the milkshakes came only 30 seconds before the food arrived.
They have a good range of dipping sauces for you to choose from. Loved all of it overall and would definitely go back.

Service was amazing. Burger were tasty and juicy and the Poutine is the real deal, I say this as a Quebecer. Dog friendly , quick to get your food and very tasty coffee. Beautiful area. Can’t recommend more

Great food with full on Canadian flavour. Everything extremely tasty 😋 & well presented. Approximately 10 tables inside, also a lot of space & tables in the fully covered outdoor seating area that has an overhead heater for those cooler days. Great coffee by Forth Roasters. Pleasant efficient service, nice atmosphere. Do note there are no public 🚻 toilets that I think are available in adjacent premises. Free WiFi on site. Card payment only.

I'm a regular visitor, and the food was fantastic as usual today :) The menu has just been updated and the Hatch Tattie was absolutely delicious... Really soft and well cooked with plenty of filling! My only gripe is that dogs are allowed into the inside dining space. I briefly felt uncomfortable today after being accosted by a large dog as I entered the inside dining space. It's such a small space, and the outside eating space is much more suitable for those who choose to being their dog with them.

Tucked away on an industrial estate in South Queensferry it wasn't easy to find but very glad to have ventured out there. Excellent Canadian & American inspired food and great table service, this place is well worth a visit! Next time you're in the Ferry give this place a go, you will not be disappointed (just mind and enter your licence plate when going in to get the free parking).

Great food and comfortable environment, never had a bad experience here would always recommend for breakfast. Outdoor seating is covered with heaters.

Delicious! The burgers are fab, great toppings and sauces. The fries are super crispy and well seasoned. When the weather's nice you can sit outside too

Edit: I've now been back for breakfast. Probably the best pancakes I've ever had. Full Scottish skillet was superb and partner had the mexi skillet which was massive and delicious

Seriously one of the best full breakfasts in the UK.
Been fed up with food and restaurants in general since lockdown. But have to say this is one worth getting in the car for. Thought they were a bit mad looking for reservations but it’s busy, staff are great. Food is fantastic.

First time here. Had brunch. Meat Mexi skillet. Massive portion. Nice flavour. Could have been warmer. 1 out of 3 dishes ordered came first. Ours was a few minutes after. Felt it had been sitting a while and forgotten however, it was a great meal

Brilliant dog friendly restaurant and takeaway, food was superb, had the skillet breakfast which was amazing huge portion, the Canadian skillet was also great. Juice sizes are great, prices reasonable and coffee delicious.

The staff were lovely, wee bowl of water for the dog and he was fussed over.
