What a hidden gem this is. Lovely tea room, dog friendly with both indoor seating and outdoor on the lawn. Lovely homemade sandwiches, gorgeous soup and a huge pot of tea that did 6 cups !! Very reasonably priced. Will definitely become a favourite place to visit for lunch.

Beautiful tea room perfect for a pit stop after coming off the fells and before getting the steamer back to Glendinning or Pooley Bridge. Great cakes. Worth a visit. Only open in summer season (we came Good Friday 2024 and it had only been open a day or two).

This little friendly cafe is superb
Its already in an amazing location and the food on offer is also well presented and wholesome. But without doubt the Cafes stand out bonus is the friendly hardworking staff - well done everyone.
Another huge bonus for us is that they are very dog friendly.

Delightful old and modern place. Nice choice of food and beverages. Dog friendly. Next door to pub with beer garden with which it shares toilet facilities which are modern and spotless. Short walk from the sheltered bay and little beach. Perfect landing place for dinghies and yachts with a tender.

Very friendly ladies serving the best coffee I've had in ages, along with the most delicious cake. I'll definitely stop here when I pass this way again...
Outside seating would have been nice.

Howtown tea room is located next to Howtown hotel. They serve sandwiches, cakes as well as hot and cold drinks.
Tuna and sweetcorn sandwich was £6.
Dogs are allowed inside the tearoom and there are toilets at the back which are clean. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.

Perfect pit stop for any of those doing the ullswater way from Glenridding to Pooley Bridge. Also had soya and almond milk, perfect for a nice brew!

A little spot of Heaven in the Lakes. Simple but lovely food and not expensive for the area. Gluten free bread available which was a bonus for a family member.

We arrived at 4 pm fearing we might be too late for afternoon tea since so many “tea rooms” seem to close at tea time! However we had a good half hour in hand for tea and delicious Victoria sponge served by helpful staff. Of course the location couldn’t be more beautiful even if reached by a single track road which does have its moments if you meet the local bus. Much better to park at Glenridding and travel by boat to Howtown. Since we fully intend to go back, that’s what we will do next time. Thank you for a happy memory.
