Only stopped for food but it was superb! 3 of us eating One curry. Two different pies. Excellent Curry. Pies were amazing, one of the nicest I have ever eaten. Great service too.

I rarely do reviews. But feel I must just for the house special steak and ale pie alone, that most of us had. We visited Saturday night with a party of 8. The Steak and Ale pie was absolutely delicious and there were even musings of ‘the best ever tasted’… It was fantastic. Compounded by really good friendly and professional service, we are very glad we discovered the Troutbeck. Thank you and see you again - we shall return!

Great experience. Called in with the kids on the off chance of a meal at 5.30pm on Good Friday. Despite obviously being busy the staff were so welcoming and went out of their way to accommodate us. The food was fantastic - the Great Mell Fell burger and homemade steak and ale pie were recommended and both absolutely delicious. Kids devoured their chicken chips and beans. Five stars - thank you!

Had a lovely stay despite it getting off to a difficult start when the A66 and surrounding roads were all closed due to incidents. I had to get through the traffic and take a 70mile detour, which resulted in me arriving very late. The owners called to check on me and kindly kept the kitchen open until I, and everyone else, had arrived. Thanks to thank kindness I got to eat the homemade steak and ale pie, which was worth the cost of the stay alone. After a well needed pint I went to the room which was clean, cosy and very comfortable. I woke feeling well rested and opened the curtains to a lovely view. Breakfast was fantastic and the out-going nature of the owners meant I was well entertained, informed and taken care of.

Despite the Inn being slightly away from the main attractions in the area, it is right on the main transport route and has ample parking, so I'd highly recommend staying (and eating) here.

We received a warm and friendly welcome to a very comfortable, clean and well presented bed and breakfast. We were also able to eat and drink who served tasty home cooked food which was very satisfying

Took my mum for a meal. Very warm welcome. Food was delicious. We sat in front of the wood burner which pleased us very much. Will definitely be back.

HIGHLY Recommend!

As a solo female traveller using this as a stopping point on a long journey, I was SO impressed with this little Inn. The staff are incredible - accommodating and friendly - the food is delicious (well worth booking a table to make sure you can enjoy a lovely dinner), and the Inn itself is the perfect combination of quaint and modern.

My single room was super clean with a gorgeous view out the window. I was comfortable, safe, and well taken care of. My only regret is that I didn't stay longer!

We had dinner in the restaurant. Delicious food, both my wife and I were really impressed. I had three courses and got a second dessert it was so good. Very highly recommended.

We were made to feel very welcome. Bed comfy. Breakfast plentiful, tasty and included in price. Evening meal available to residents and non-residents. Delicious food that catered for all tastes. Nothing too much trouble. We will be back. Happy New Year. Deb and Charlie Greaves

Stayed for a night with our dog, and can honestly say we will be back.

Our room had obviously been recently refurbished and was amazing.
Nice and warm, with heating adjustable.
Lovely bathroom with shower.
Tea and coffee facilities (with biscuits).
Decent size TV.

Bed was comfortable and even had a lovely faux fur throw on it.

We didn't make use of the bar or restaurant when we arrived but we did have a breakfast - one Full English and one just toast (GF available) which was superb (7hrs later, I'm still full!) - I say one just toast, it was really 2 as there was enough toast for the dog to snaffle a couple of slices too.

The owners are absolutely lovely (really sorry, I can't remember your names as I'm useless), and are currently refurbishing the main restaurant, but the bar is available for breakfasts and meals - and it is a lovely bar too.

We've just been looking at the cottages online and are thinking of booking one for later in the year.

Really can't rate it highly enough and can't wait to go back

Welcoming and friendly hosts serving good beer.
They don't serve 'shots' though; be aware! 😜

We had a fabulous meal here. We'd had a long day hiking and called to check availability we were unable to give them an exact time of arrival but they were so helpful and accommodating on the phone. When we arrived we were seated at our table the staff were lovely and welcoming and the food was really good.

Booked a table last minute on a Sunday with 2 hungry kids. Accomadated us no problem. Menu is choice is small but there is something for everyone including vegans. Friendly staff, nice beers and a cosy pub.

My wife and I called here on Sunday 9th July 2023 at 5.30 pm hoping we’d still be able to get a Sunday roast. We were welcomed into the pub by the barman who was extremely friendly. He took our drinks order, directed us to our table and then brought them over along with some treats for our dog. We later found out that he was the owner. My beer (Wainwright’s Amber) was very good and my wife’s Chardonnay wine was delicious. We ordered the beef dinner and after a short wait our dinners arrived. The dinner was excellent, nicely presented, hot and very tasty. Despite being full we decided to try the sticky toffee pudding and we were so pleased we did. Delicious ! I can’t recommend this place highly enough and if we’re in the area again we will not only eat here but probably stay here as well. Full marks for everything. Service excellent, food and drink excellent, value for money excellent. Thanks for a great experience.

Excellent meal here and beer kept very well. The staff were lovely and there was ample choice for vegetarians and vegans. We will definitely return but would perhaps ask if we could be seated in a dog-free area as I start to sneeze sometimes if I spend too long too close to dogs...we were the only table in the area we were in without a dog...great for dog owners and this is not a complaint as staff had kindly fitted us in with less than 24hrs notice and they were really busy as it was Saturday night.

A warm greeting, the room was very clean and met all our needs. We had an excellent evening meal and breakfast was of a high standard.
Service was very good throughout our stay.
Our dog was welcomed to be with us during our meals.

Amazing food. Great selection of vegan dishes. Friendly service. Beautiful building and a handy location if staying at the campsite up the road. The shovel and spade cutlery for dessert were fabulous.

I visited with my friend and dog last week while staying at Gill Head Farm for a few nights. The lady behind the bar was so lovely, and really accommodating of my slightly grumpy older dog who does not care much for other dogs. She ensured that we had a nice quite table and space to eat where we could all relax away from other dogs. The food and service was excellent, i had the vegan pie which was lovely. I will definitely be returning in summer for my next holiday. Thanks again!
