Great views. The shortest route would be from the Aira Force National Trust Car Park (£5 in 2024 for non members). However we parked opposite the High Cascades Car Park and spent close to 2 hours, walking across the bridge at High Cascades then right and down to the bridge below Aira Force before climbing up the steps and back up the West side towards High Cascades again. If you stick to the West side it's probably a better path and an easier walk.

Fantastic Waterfall and lovley walks and views. Plenty of car parking and nice areas to have a drink and something to eat.

Wonderful walk up the river to some interesting falls. Plenty of parking options, pay with cash or app.

Paths are well maintained, but there are quite a few steps, so not recommended for pushchairs.

Nice place for family trekking. Easy trekking even elderly people with the help of sticks can claim on this trek

Great place to visit, always try to stop off here when we visit the Lake District. Only issue is the car park. Gets very full, very fast so get here early to secure a spot. Bring your hiking boots as it is a bit of a trek to the top. Absolutely stunning scenery though.

Easy to find, you can take the short walk to the top of the waterfall with views of Ullswater through the trees (especially in winter), or a more difficult climb down and up new steps that have been out in and view the waterfall from the bottom as well.

Whilst not as beautiful or tall as the famed waterfall nearby, High Force is much broader and appears much more powerful. It can also be appreciated with care much closer than Aira Force. It is set in absolutely beautiful scenery, well worth making the trek up from the car park, although the path is steep and muddy in places

Really amazing place to walk around with some beautiful views. If you’re bribing children, do be careful as there are a lot of very sharp drop and no fences.

Parking was pretty difficult too as there’s only a really small car park (cash only) but it is right next to the entrance. Would recommend getting there earlier in the day or park at the bottom for a longer hike around the entire lake.

Easy to get to and a lovely walk for hikers, dog walkers or the average person. Free parking available or a relatively cheap car park available to. Beautiful scenery and the falls are definitely worth seeing. Wear suitable footwear as it can get a little slippy if walking around on the rocks near the river and falls. Spent around 2 hours here. For novice or expert walkers, young and old. Definitely one of the best waterfalls in the lakes.

An enjoyable walk with my family. I'm a bit wobbly on uneven ground, so I had two walking poles, but it was great!

Beautiful place to visit with all ages of children. We parked in the middle carpark which is level with Aira Force, but we walked up to the high falls and then all the way back down again.
The upper parts of the falls are slightly more challenging underfoot, but from the main car park up to Aira is well established with a lot of work undertaken to develop and maintain it.
Having said that, our 7 and 4 year olds managed all parts well and had fun.
We visited after heavy rainfall and the waterfall was breathtaking.
At the main carpark, there are well kept toilets and a lovely cafe selling a variety of snacks and food

The only downside was the parking meters, they only took coins ,£6 for two hrs is the cheapest. It took 5 of my £ coins but rejected any more that I tried. Luckily there was another meter which did accept the 6th coin

Plenty of parking at the base carpark. Other car parks available higher up.

You can walk to the lower section and back or to the top and back. You can loop the whole walk so you can walk both sides of the river and waterfall.

Well maintained paths in sections and bridge crossings.

Some areas over tree routes, rocks and gravel etc, but not so bad.

Worth the walk

Absolutely beautiful place. Parked at Aira Force High Cascades car park. There's a lay by just opposite the entrance that has enough room for 7-8 cars approx and it's free. Didn't get a ticket and there's no yellow lines. Walked down to the waterfalls and had an amazing journey down to the lake. The lake was the least impressive, the waterfalls were so amazing and beautiful. Took tonnes of pictures. If I had swim shorts, would of gone for a swim even though it was cold. Would be great for a picnic and summer Dip 😁 it's a shame the Aira Force Waterfall main path was closed off due to mud slides but it was an amazing walk with looks of beautiful nature 😊 highly recommend, parking (if you do pay) is cheaper than the Aira Force Waterfall car park but free if you park in the lay by. Definitely up there for favourite lake District walk!

One of the most beautiful places in the world. Only a 5 minute walk from the car park. I strongly suggest visiting when you're in the lake district.
