Fantastic - Exactly what a great fish and chips business should be and do.
Brilliant, completely fresh cooked food presented with care (even a wedge of lemon added for my Haddock) and served with a smile.
We need more like this, loved it, service visit and I will be back…. And I drove 40 minutes to get here. Thanks

Been to Gormans Fish & Chip shop in Ashington tonight and had the best fish & chips I have had in a long time. Got served by a lovely lady with purple hair and would like to thank her for the way she served me with such a polite manner that you don’t always see nowadays. Will definitely be going back.

Just had a meal from here, excellent, staff very friendly and helpful, especially’Essex girl and Blue hair girl, you both work really hard. And this is a business that take care plastic and therefore pays tax, unlike ‘cash only’ places.

Absolutely love it! Never ever disappoints, the portions are generous, the food is top class and the staff are world class. New to the area and I'm so happy I've found this place. Thanks for being so kind and the food is banging xx

My daughter has used Gormans for a while now and she recommended we try it. I thoroughly enjoyed Scampi and I pinched bits of my husbands cod as it looked lovely white fish with batter crisp and light, chips although I rarely eat potatoes in any form I pinch a few chips off my hubby too they are not greasy and really tasty. I would thoroughly recommend anyone to try them I'm sure you will enjoy.

My kids always choose V Gormans when it comes to Takeaway treat days. My daughter is 10 and used to get the cod bites but now she prefers the small fish and chips. My son's chips are always large enough for him to share with a friend too. Never greasy. Good quality food from a company who have never got my order wrong. Staff are excellent, consistent and work hard - they know their regulars, especially the elderly people who pop by too. It's beautiful. Definitely worth a visit - p.s. the gravy is AMAZING too

I’ve been a customer for 5 years now. I visit the shop, I order deliveries and even (during the pandemic) used their own website to pre-order my grandmothers haddock and chips with mushy peas every Friday. The food has always been brilliant and let me explain what I mean by brilliant. The chips are “proper” (as we in Ashington say) chippy chips, the fish is that precision mix of being succulent without being greasy. When I visit the shop what impresses me is the ordering system, upon entering the polite gentleman behind the counter will ask me what I’d like (there could be 7 or 8 people in the shop before me) so that they can get anything which needs cooked into the fryers straight away. This is a small thing but shows caring about the customers waiting time. Even with the price increases which every business was forced into, early 2023 (and for which the shop adopted an apology letter to customers, again just the small things) I have never eaten my fish and chips and thought anything other than ‘that was worth every penny’.

Service is always fabulous, fast and efficient.
Staff are wonderful and friendly and always ready to help. Food is always delicious and hot!!

How have we just found this place. We ordered 2 small Cod & Chips and a children’s cod bites and chips. Very generous size portions. The fish was cooked to perfection and the chips were amazing. We all loved it. We will definitely be back.

Best fish and chips for miles, and huge portions too, plus very friendly staff. Well worth travelling for. Fish are lovely and juicy and the batter is the best. Our NE favourite by far.

On holiday in the area, popped in for a fish and chip supper on the way back to the holiday home and oh my it did not disappoint.
Despite being busy the staff were very helpful and the food was absolutely superb.

Fish was some of the best we've ever had and we will definitely be back next time we're in the area.

All I can say is….wow! We are extremely lucky in this area to be blessed with many really good fish and chip businesses, and I’ve pretty much tried them all in my life. However, I have absolutely found the best as one and that is V Gormans in Ashington. Travelled from North Tyneside as I’d heard good things, but those glowing reports still did not do this place justice! Most fish and chip places offer the same things and most taste the same, either cooked well or not, but this place just tops the lot. I had fish and chips, others in our travelling party tried various other things like sausage, cod bites, and also the incredible cod and pea fritter - amazing! They must do something special in the way they cook their food, and buy top quality ingredients, because it’s just different to other places. It’s tastier, not greasy like some places; it tastes cared for, like the staff really care about how it’s presented and what a customer thinks of it. Very friendly, and very hardworking staff too. Gormans, thank you and we will definitely be back. Probably very soon!

The food delivered was outstanding. Very fast delivery and food piping hot. The whale and chips delicious and the corned beef patty the best I have ever tasted.

Had a lovely haddock and chips meal, 6/9/23.The whole experience was excellent as I was greeted with a smile and very friendly hello,the good sized haddock was freshly cooked and the meal was great. So much nicer and better value to one that I had recently in Amble.
