Been twice now. Great location. Welcoming. Great service. Nothing too much trouble. V friendly staff. Lovely room. Decent shower. Pub and bar excellent albeit essential to book a table due staff shortages (which might explain recent poor reviews but otherwise can't understand them). Food pretty reasonably priced and large portions with a very helpful (nearly) half price option for a smaller size. Great shame they only have jumbo chips rather than French fries (surely everyone prefers!). Would definitely recommend and stay again. Small point: room 7, a twin, is v cosy for two men!

The Brotherswater Inn was great. Its in a stunning location between Ullswater and Windermere.

Pub: The food was really good, there was a choice of four real ales, all were in great condition. There were plenty of tables outside, all with great views of the hills. Most of the tables inside also have great views thanks to the large windows. It felt more like a pub that you would eat in than drink in as most of the tables were booked unless it was good weather outside. However, we were staying over a busy bank holiday weekend so it may be easier to get a table at other times of year.

Hotel: I loved the breakfast, especially as you got the views mentioned above. The room was a bit dated, it wasn't the comfiest bed I have stayed in. The en-suite bathroom was very clean and the shower was good. Also found it a bit odd that a couple of times the cleaner had left the heating on so the room was very stuffy when we got in and must be adding a lot to their energy bills.

As a solo traveller the team here made me feel so welcome. Really fab customer service, from making sure I had a chance to book for dinner, to making packed lunches for hikes. Very accommodating. Location stunning. Rooms are lovely and cosy with everything you need for a comfortable stay. RECOMMEND

Lovely bank holiday camping trip. Beautiful campsite a short drive from Ullswater. Stunning location, friendly and tidy campsite. Busy when we visited but still quiet. Really nice pub, good quality home cooked pub food, smaller portions of adult meals for kids rather than a kids menu which I'm a fan of.

Lovely pub, warm and welcoming environment. The open fire was exactly what we needed after a stressful pitch up in the rain. My dog got lots of fuss from staff and other diners, and enjoyed sitting by the fire. The food was lovely, not too complicated or fancy- just well cooked pub food.

You need to book in advance as it gets busy and booked up quickly!

Took a chance going for a meal here when Kirkstone pass was closed. Amazing views from the panoramic windows. Roaring fire and everyone there chatting to each other, the staff joining in too. The meal, great pub food, reasonably priced.

Perfect in every way. Once again we've had a wonderful stay. Room was clean and warm. This time we had a double bed. No,the rooms aren't the biggest of rooms but at the end of the day they are pub rooms. Great food in the evening and a wonderful breakfast to set you up for the day. Staff are top notch . Fully recommend 👌

Absolutely amazing place. Strongly recommend anyone to try this place if you are around. I'm always quite reluctant to go into pubs but we were so hungry, we just stopped by this as we were passing by on the route to another destination. Service is spot on. Felt like they care for every single customer who comes through the door. They cleaned the tables very quick and on the top of their service at all times while you are at the table.
And good did not disappoint at all.... It was perfect and couldn't ask for anything better. Although feared that it will be frozen stuff. We ordered vegeterian curry and hake fillet. Starter was ribs and meat was falling off the bone, exactly as you would expect.
Absolutely amazing place to chill, have a good food and great view to top it all off, not to forget the amazing staff whose service is outstanding.

Really enjoyed the August bank holiday weekend at this pub (that we'd driven past so many times in the past). The staff made us feel welcome even though COVID screens and table cleaning policies were still in place (August 2022).
Food was tasty, hot and filling with a good choice of drinks. Compliments to the chef and staff.
It has a nice terrace looking towards Dove Crag and High Hartsop Dodd.
Our room (#1) was compact with the ensuite only suitable for one person at a time, but that wasn't a problem. We found the bed very comfortable and slept well.
For meal's, tables had to be booked and the pub closed at 10pm, but we were well looked after from breakfast to last orders.
We really hope to return over the winter to try some of the many walks around this area, but also to enjoy staying at the pub again.

Wow, the best thing about this pub is the great customer service. It's always nice to have a mini chat with a barman who loves where he works. Walked around brothers water, about an hour, and had a pint of Brotherswater IPA. What a perfect evening out.

The pub was lovely and the staff were amazing, just fantastic. We left before breakfast, so they put together a rather substantial packed lunch together for us - brilliant.
Nice rooms, nice food, nice place. Thank you for looking after us.

Been coming here for over a decade. Beautiful site with stunning surroundings. Food is top notch and the staff and brilliant. Great place to go to for a long or short stay.

£95 for b&b which includes a decent sized breakfast with tea, coffee and fruit juices. Can't complain at all!

Enjoyed a really lovely meal here on our last night at Hartsop Fold, which is a 5 minute drive away.
The food was fresh and delicious and the staff helpful.
They weren't serving lunches but I expect they've had a really busy season and are obviously taking COVID seriously, which to me, can only be a good thing.
