Providence

We visited Burwash Manor a few weeks ago at the weekend specifically to go to Providence.
Providence was recommended to us by friends who had visited in the week and got great customer service from a man working there.
The shop happened to be full of customers when we arrived but even though it was busy the lady working there, without us asking, came over and explained the difference between clay paint and ordinary paint. This explanation saved us making an expensive mistake buying paint for our hall.
While we were there we purchased a large shaker shelf. The lady asked us if we would like to leave it in the shop whilst we continued shopping.

We are redecorating our whole house so will definitely be returning.

Visited Providence to pick up some sample pots. As an absolute bonus we received such great advice that we made decisions there and then with reassured certainty that our room is going to look great! Thanks so much for the free learning!

Staff were very helpful, friendly and seemed knowledgeable. They went out of their way to make sure the paint got to us after there was an issue with the original. Also had the perfect warm white we were looking for.

Good staff, friendly and helpful.

I love this shop; the paint quality and colour range is fantastic and the furniture is beautiful (with a price tag to match!) However, the shop is seriously let down by a male staff member who is unspeakably unhelpful and lacks any modicum of customer service skill; rude, unhelpful and grumpy. I would give the products 10/10 but sadly customer service experience significantly less impressive.

Phoned ahead, item confirmed in stock, drive 25mins to collect. Item didn’t scan, staff member had to phone someone else to find out cost (£15 as per Farrow and Ball website) but told it was £28 “is it has more colours”. A £28 product not listed on F&B website - this shop are just over charging for £15 one. So sad as I wanted to support independent shop.

Go to the F&B shop in Cambridge instead - lovely staff there (and I paid £15 there)

Visited to buy paint for my entire house and whilst laying out samples on an empty table the only member of staff came and placed a paint chart over the ones I’d laid out and began a discussion with another customer. Hope she spent more than we were going to 🤣

Have now seen the owners response. It was a Saturday afternoon and, no doubt, one of the busiest anticipated times for people to drop in so maybe need to employ more people.? Anyway, I digress, I was at the table with my husband for at least 5 minutes when the customer asked to see a Farrow and Ball paint chart. The MoS brought one over and, having watched what I had been doing (because she was stood at the till right behind me), laid it out and spoke to the other customer. Now, I am no more important than the other customer but this was gobsmackingly rude. I looked over at my husband and rather than confront an unbelievable situation we left. We then went to a fantastic place in Milton where the guy could not have been more helpful and they have a much wider selection of paint. They will get the multi thousand pound order. And, I suspect, will not get their mates to post 5 star reviews to try and redress the balance…

Seem to have 3 different websites ...!!! Customer service 0 ...the lady in the store simply not interested in customers...disappointing when other stores would love customers in their retail stores and would welcome any sale ...I wonder how they stay open so long on this level of service! !
