One of the 52 Shaktipeeth. An extremely revered place for the local people.
The greatest celebration takes place on the last day of the Bengali calendar. A week long fair is held.
Easy to reach from Bolpur, Santiniketan and Prantik. The nearest rail stations are Prantik and Kopai. But at Bolpur all the trains stop.
A good place to offer Puja.

The Kankalitala Temple as a Shakti Peeth

The mythology of Daksha yaga and Sati's self immolation is the story of origin behind Shakti Peethas. Shakti Peethas are holy abode of Devi formed due to the falling of body parts of the corpse of Sati Devi, when Shiva carried it and wandered through.

As per the Hindu mythology & belief, some portion of hip joint of Goddess Sati (wife of Lord Shiva) fallen here. A small temple where the Goddess is being worship in her framed photo, but the body part of the Goddess is in a near by pond, water of which is regarded as most sacred.

This place holds the vibe of spirituality. I went on a Sunday and yet there wasn’t too much rush. They takes the name, Gotro and will give 3mins time for the puja. You have to enchant the mantra after hearing it from him.

People has to know the puja timings before planning. Morning puja time: 6am to 12pm and then there’s a break time. Puja resume after 3pm and continues until 9pm.

Dali costs from ₹51(where you’ll not get the mala) up until ₹251(as per the garland prices it varies).

There’s too many options of having Mayer Vog, but after looking out and speaking with a few locals came to know that, the one which is alongside the mandir is only genuine. You have to buy ticket before 12pm. Price: ₹50.
Car parking charges: ₹20.

Location: it is 8kms away from bolpur Station.
Lots of local handmade items are also available for sale within the mandir ground. But I felt the price on the higher side compared to Sonajhuri Hat.

When Goddess Sati’s body was cut into 51 parts and distributed all over the earth, her waist (Kaankal) fell here thus creating a deep indentation in the ground covered with water now, known as Dudh Pukur. It is believed that the waist bones of the Goddess are buried inside this sacred pond just adjoining the temple.

Gracing the banks of the Kopai River, Kankalitala in Birbhum attracts many pilgrims and tourists every year. The temple is simple in construction and consists of a rectangular hall with an enclosed sanctum on one end. The typical pyramidal roof surmounts the square shrine, and within their sanctum lies a garlanded portrait of Goddess Kali and a small mound of earth suitably covered with adornments. There is no idol or statue, which is a departure from the norms. That may be why there is so much openness in allowing devotees to visit the inner sanctum, thus imparting a sense of deeply mythical vibes.

Shri Kankalitala Shaktipeeth Temple is a unique Shaktipeeth among the 51 Shaktipeeth due to its characteristics of not having any idol of Maa Sati Rup. Instead, Pat Puja is performed here, and Ma Sati's remains are in a kund in the temple complex. The temple complex consists of a main temple along with a large shade, a small temple, a Prashad cooking room, and a beautiful garden area. Moreover, there is a beautiful Shiva temple just beside the main temple complex along with an open ground. Thousands of devotees come to this Shakipeeth to see Sati Ma's Kund and worship. The natural ambiance of this place is excellent and the Khowai River just beside it adds more good ambiance.

Visiting Konkalitala in Bolpur is absolutely worth it. It has a beautiful surrounding and extremely positive ambience. It's disciplined; without any nuisance of priests and pandahs. You will soak into the humility and earthiness of Bolpur, here.

This is the last Satipeeth among the 51 Satipeeths of Devi. Here it is believed that Sati's bones have fallen here. This place is moderately crowded. Recommended to plan for a visit early in the morning to avoid the crowd. You can also get to see, dance and enjoy the traditional Birbhum dance. The place is very calm and holds high value for Hinduism. It is a little far from Santiniketan city.. You can book or reserve a local Toto service which will take you to the place and also can be availed for the return journey. Several shops are available outside the temple from where you can buy Devi offerings and Prasad. Also you can keep your footwear in the same shop until you return.

This Shaktipeeth is situated near Bolpur in Birbhum district. This is one of the fifty- one shaktipeeth of Mata Sati. The Hindus considers this as a very holy place. According to the puran here the hip bone 'kakal' of the devi Sati has fallen. The temple was a bit crowded while we visited the temple. The car parking fee is 20/-.
