Il Passaggio by Capanna

As guests of the hotel, we opted to dine there for our anniversary dinner and it did not disappoint. We were seated with the most memorable views of the Tuscan hills and sunset, and much enjoyed our tasting menu. Servers described each course in perfect English and were very friendly. Special thank you to Antonio who is very professional and kind. Dishes tasted fresh and delicious. We will surely return.

I will give 5 stars for food, the views and the service and service recovery in general.

One small incident - While it is no one’s fault that a fly flew into my wine, one server removed the fly from the glass with my cutlery and said she cant guarantee that they can give another glass and walked off. We found it quite unnecessary with the comment but I shook it off anyway. Anyway another server came by shortly after and kindly provided another glass for free which was greatly appreciated.

What an amazing experience. Professional, but personal and very friendly service in a stunning location and the food... I loved every single dish I got served. You can have their own wines with the menu, which I would recommend, or choose from a very good selection. Thank you, I loved it.

This is a little surprise in the hills of Montalcino! Exquisite food, explosion of flavors, good wines & the property is beautiful!

Wow we randomly found this place by searching around google maps and it’s SO GOOD! I had the tomatoes starter then pinci with lamb sauce. Both extremely tasty. The wine was delicious. The terrace dining atop a hill is divine. Reasonable prices considering the quality! I really recommend this place!

We had such an amazing time at Il Passaggio. Every meal we had there went above and beyond all expectations; you could tell that both the kitchen and the staff had an enormous amount of pride and appreciation for the food and service. The ingredients were all very fresh, hand picked from either on-site or curated from the Montalcino region. The staff was impeccable; all incredibly knowledgeable, cognizant, friendly, kind, and joyful. Especially Soufiane and Khalil, who were so kind, helpful, and funny,throughout our stay; just a complete joy to have met and gotten to know in our short Tuscan stay. Thank you!

This is the kind of restaurant that serves six kinds of tomatoes in one dish—topped with green tomato sorbet to—on a patio with a gorgeous view of the Montalcino countryside. It’s also quite reasonable prices considering the luxury, with delicious brunellos by the glass or bottle. A glorious afternoon.

Beautiful place and the food was incredible, if you are looking for a romantic place this is the place. Very good food and excellent wines. If you like good wine you can find it here, plus they make their own wines and they are excellent. Damiano was very kind to us.

Phenomenal meal from beginning to end. Every dish was delicious, elevated genius. One of the best meals of my entire life.

Dinner was one of our favorite meals in Italy with stunning views of the countryside. The chef used mostly local food including vegetables from the garden on the property. Each course was beautiful and delicious. Staff and manager were very friendly.

We had such a fantastic meal here. The food and service were really outstanding. Excellent value. We had our young well-behaved daughter with us and they treated her very kindly which we appreciated. We ate at a lot of great restaurants in Italy and this one particularly stands out.

Excellent food, attentive service, great atmosphere!

Staying at Capanna Suites so tried this restaurant on our first night. We had done a great wine tasting in there in the afternoon and the small restaurant has a beautiful view from the glasshouse part. The interior room is also nice but not as nice as the glass area. Sadly we had no option for the glass area for dinner but still had a nice table. We had an excellent wine and some very creative and beautiful dishes. The beetroot with blue cheese was superb and pretty. The fresh pasta really excellent. The service polite and understated. Everything done to a high standard. Well priced and extensive wine list. Feels like a restaurant at a hotel and is quite small with service finishing quite early as we walk past each night. Worth coming for but don't come at 9 or you might be the last people here. It might be different in the summer.

Amazing place! From the view, the wine, the waiters…don’t have enough words to describe it. Certainly will come back when visiting Tuscany.

Very good food, and still quite affordable! Won't be surprise to see this restaurant appear in a couple of guides in the future!
