Il Moro

I had lunch with my boyfriend yesterday at Il Moro restaurant and we really enjoyed it. The service was incredible and homemade food was delicious for very good value for money. We recommend to order half portions to be able to try different dishes. We also enjoyed the wine tasting. This family owned restaurant makes you feel welcomed.

Il Moro was the best surprise we had in Tuscany. After some online research, we went to Il Moro expecting a good local meal. What we were served, however, far exceeded any expectation. Every dish - from the appetisers, first and second courses, to dessert - is carefully paired with local wines, included in the price of the dish. The dishes are delicious, homemade, and made with simple yet incredibly well-selected ingredients. At our table of five, each person ordered a different dish, and we couldn't decide which was the best - both in terms of pasta and meat dishes. The desserts are also outstanding, paired with 'vino santo,' 'moscadello di montalcino,' and 'grappa.' Additionally, the restaurant boasts a beautiful view, an authentic and welcoming atmosphere, and offers all of this at an excellent price.

Great food and service. Was recommended by us from one of the wineries we visited in the morning. Went for lunch and everything we ordered was delicious. Great prices. Highly recommended the crostini and pappardelle cinghiale. We thought we ordered a glass of wine each but ended up with a wine tasting somehow. Would definitely come back. If you arrive early (we were by the door 5 min before they opened), you can get a table with view of the hills.

Finally! An authentic restaurant with normal prices and local specialities. This is the type of place where the locals go to eat. Everything we tried was great, but a special mention needs to be made to the pici all'aglione. They were spectacular, the best we had in Tuscany. A must visit when in the area.

One of the best dinners I've ever had in my life. Real home made Italian food with great wines and great service. They really work hard to make you feel at home.

One of the most generous dining experiences I've ever had. Asked for a glass of brunello and got a full tasting plus grappa plus a couple free refills. Tried to tip but was refused. View from the balcony was 🤌

Great food. Very kind host. When I was wondering between two dishes, he suggested taking half and half. The hlaf portion was quite large and I was chaged only 5 Euro each. Highly recommended .

We arrived on a Monday for lunch at 12.30 without a booking. The restaurant was empty. We ordered the crostini misto which was delicious. They also poured us a special olive oil to taste. We ordered a glass of red wine each but received 3 glasses of different reds each for tasting, even though we didn’t ask for it. It was so nice of them and we really enjoyed our experience dining there.

The pasta perfectly bouncy in texture, it was so good! we especially liked the pinci with garlic and tomato sauce. It’s quite strong in taste even though it doesn’t look it. The pappardelle with wild boar sauce was also tasty.

We finished with 2 icecream truffles and an espresso. We thought the gelato was truffle flavoured, but they are not. The white one was vanilla with some coffee icecream inside and the other was like a baci chocolate flavour. They were both still delicious. All this for €46!

Excellent homemade Tuscan food, very friendly atmosphere, great knowledge of local wines, excellent value for money. A must for anyone visiting Montalcino and wanting to taste genuine local food and wine. We have lunched and dined here innumerable times over a number of years. Will not change it for the world! The food is amazing. My wife kept on saying I love my food every time she takes a bite. The plates were wiped clean. Amazing service and super friendly staff. I recommend the rabbit dish. Highly recommended.

Genuine, tasty and reasonably priced Tuscan food with friendly (and English speaking) hosts. Get the house antipasto and the Pici pasta dishes. The rabbit was excellent!

We were so lucky to fall upon this incredible restaurant in Montalcino. The food was incredible, best bruschetta and best funghi pasta I’ve ever tasted. The simple decor disguises the superb service and cooking. I will definitely come back! Thank you for such a lovely afternoon!

It was a wonderful experience
The person serving us treated us like royals
He wanted us to savour the different olive oil which are produced in Montalcino
We started by choosing fresh pecorino with honey I loved it Very unusual starter
The pasta with Ragu Di Cinghiale was abundant and very tasty I had Roast Veal Tasty and very tender We were given red wine to taste which we liked so ordered a litre of same wine Instead of sweet I opted for cheese platter Excellent choice
I or rather we highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wishing to enjoy a very relaxing meal

We had the most wonderful experience of our 2-week Tuscan holiday here. The service was incredible. We ordered a crostini, primi and secondi to share for lunch and got so much more. The owner/son (Alessandro) was so engaging and fun and really looked after us. We’d have gone back a second time (of our two night visit) but were afraid we’d break the spell. We will most definitely return if passing through the area at another point. Highly recommend for authentic Italian food and experience.
