Delicious food and wonderful service. The ravioli was amazing. The Florentine steak was the best I have had. We highly recommend.

Outstanding upscale dinner with friendly, helpful staff and quite reasonable menu prices. We reserved for 8pm on a Monday, and had a quiet table in back to enjoy the expansive wine list, choosing a half-bottle of a 2016 Fattoi Brunello at a reasonable 30 euro.

We sought out Il Grifo as it carries the Florentine steak, a specialty of Tuscany, on its menu, and it was open Monday evening. We were not disappointed. Our server advised us the (T-bone) steak was 1.5 kilos that evening, at 5.5 euro/100g, which is honestly a discount from NYC steakhouses. She also brought it from the kitchen to show it off to us in its marbled glory. We settled on the delicious, simple tomato-topped crostini as an appetizer knowing the size of the steak, which was honestly sized for four normal humans, with spinach on the side since, you know, steak dinner.

Out came the sizzling steak, rare as can be, sliced into big chunks by the kitchen. Somehow we ate the whole thing, cleaning off the bone, indulging in the wine, enjoying every bit of the tender, flavorful steak. It's hard to over-praise the presentation and art of the steak. Our server checked in occasionally but (standard in Italy of course) largely left us to our eating and conversation.

All told, with the comped crostini and two espressos to finish the long, languid dinner, we paid 132 euros plus tip. So easily worth it!

Amazing food, one of our best in 2 weeks in Italy! The bruschetta was great, we loved the amitriciana so much we ordered another one, the brunello wines were unreal, and our desert of the cremata and pistachio cake were so good (especially when combined)

Excellent food (pasta w boar, rabbit toscana), you can get a glas of brunello as well (€9). Atmosphere is very classic, attentive waiters and fair pricing. Would definitely recommend!

Duck ragu tagliatelle, burrata cream ravioli, tiramisu, and cappuccino were all the best versions of each dish we’d had so far on our Tuscany trip. Even the broccoli side dish impressed us. The tiramisu is a must try — light and rich at the same time. 10/10! Don’t miss it!

The food was very good. We had pizza and pasta. The staff was very friendly, they even made special tuna pasta, out of the menu, for our daughter.
The bathroom clean.
We recommend.

Great spot to eat in Montalcino. The lasagna was delicious as were our pastas. Pleasant service and a nice atmosphere that matches this sweet hill town.

This is a restaurant that we visited a number of years ago on our trip to Montalcino and hands down this is one of the best restaurants we've visited in Italy and probably the top 10 favorite we've ever visited!

Must try dishes were the bean appetizer dish and the gnocchi, but honestly we ate here three times and there wasn't a single dish that we haven't craved for years afterwards!

The bufala margarita pizza alone is worth a trip to Montalcino. The best pizza I've had anywhere in fifteen years. (Una Pizzaria Napoletana was the last, in case you're wondering).

Great value, friendly, and a really nice place to eat in Tuscany. The proprietor, Federico, is a very warm and hard working guy. Molto bene!

Hands-down the best pizza in Montalcino, and probably the best I've tried in the province. It's the crust! Just the right amount of chew and packed with flavor. The toppings are always fresh, thoughtful, and inventive. Some standouts are the rosemary and potato, and the sfiziosa: olives, artichokes, and cooked ham.

Pro-tip: you can order any pizza with the super-tender mozzarella di bufala. No matter what other toppings you get, asking for mozzarella di bufala makes the whole pizza taste even more amazing.

Also, don't pass up the house-made limoncello: it's the perfect finish for the perfect pizza.
