Osteria Le Rughe di Cortona

Very nice place for a dinner - have been there with friends; it’s not a problem to find something good for vegetarian and for someone who doesn’t eat meals with gluten. We tried local and typical for the region food and everything was really good. Bonus: young waiter, very helpful and sympathetic, who understand polish language! But we were talking italian (thank you for your patience). Prices are also fair and the wine🍷and coffee ☕ was very good! Thanks for a pleasant moment of our holiday in Cortona! :)

EXCEPTIONAL soul-food, prepared with love and care. It’s been a very long time since I’ve felt this satisfied with not just the dishes but the eating at a restaurant experience as a whole. Disposable menus and tablecloths, an attentive waiter wearing mask at all times, a friendly and helpful chef. Tacked away in a small alley, the Osteria is cute both outside and inside. And the food, oh the food. Ought to give a shout out to the fair prices too.

It was freezing cold and windy today in Cortona. A wonderful find, this tiny trattoria off the beaten track. Great food great service great atmosphere some good red wine too! Would highly recommend the cinghiale and tripe… also such a nice treat of limoncello Grazie mille Christian e Matteo

Great dinner!

While the menu was entirely in Italian, our wait staff, Christoper, patiently described items for us.

We started with Robillota, a lentil, Kale, bread soup. My husband and I shared a bowl for our appetizer - plentiful and so tasty.

I chose for my main course, the Quagile (quail) - amazing flavors- light and so tasty. My husband had the Maremmani (fresh ravioli filled with ricotta cheese with tomatoes on top). Super yummy.

The chef, Matteo, and wait staff, Christopher, were wonderful. Definitely will be back!

Would we go again? Definitely! The two waiters were outstanding working as a double act, able to look after us independently. I had the mixed salami and charcuterie. It was difficult to choose which cut was the better. The vegetable soup which my wife had could not be faulted. My wife and I had the best pasta ever for the main. My wife the ravioli myself the pizzi... with pear and bacon. You will need to book as several were turned away during our stay. We already are looking forward to a return visit to Cortona and this restaurant. Fingers crossed the chef stays.

I think this is probably the best place to eat in Cortona. The service was great, the waiter was very polite and did his best to advise us. We sat with our children and they were very happy.

This was the best meal we had in our week in Cortona. The young man that served us was fantastic, and the food was incredible. Booking in advance recommended!

The restaurant is tucked away in a quiet corner of Cortona and I found the staff friendly and helpful. My starter of panzanella was a refreshing starter on a hot day. My first course of pasta with pear and bacon was , tasty and I finished with a generous portion of vin santo with cantucci biscuits. With two glasses of chianti and a coffee, my bill came to a reasonable 37 euros.

We had a wonderful lunch here.

Everything was perfect! The staff is absolutely nice and really relaxed at work. The food ist really, really good and you get a lot for a moderate price. It’s just Traditionell food for a good price. Absolutely worth a visit while in Cortona - it’s a bit of the main track but that’s what makes it even better.

We showed up a bit later than usual, but the staff was welcoming and unwaivering in exceptional service and delicious food. The Chianti Risotto was exceptionally good as a “wild card” option! Definitely a hidden gem in a side alley in Cortona.

A quiet lovely little restaurant tucked away from the busy piazza. The food is heavenly and the service is wonderful! A true gem!
