Osteria del Teatro

Wow. Just an amazing meal. Have to say the pear pasta was exceptional. We also had a simple stewed onion that was delicious and very well cooked and well seasoned lamb with a tomato jus that was light and herbaceous without being overpowering. Everything was delicious, service was great and in a nice square in this charming city.

My toddler was welcomed with a high chair and Toys to play with.

Love the food and the super friendly owner! We loved the food so much we went twice during our stay. Plus it was the best tiramisu I ever had.

The place has many awards with Michelin guide one. The food there is exceptional. The prices aren't so high. Coperto is 2,5 euro, Aqua cost also (so when waiter ask you for water, have it in your mind). It is not easy to get table even in November Saturday. The propably owner is very kind. The portions aren't big but delicious. I really love fondue with tartuffo.

Outrageously good restaurant, one of my favorite in Italy. Tucked away on a beautiful street with, of course, a ton of hills. The team is lovely and the food cannot be beat. It is worth coming to Cortona for this restaurant alone, but the town itself is also lovely.

It’s our sixth or seventh visit to Italy, and Osteria del Teatro served us the best Italian dinner we’ve ever had. We’ve tried four different meals and for different dessert and all of them have been absolutely delicious. Friendly and smiling service. We strongly recommend this magnificent restaurant!

Gorgeous restaurant in a gorgeous city. We had a table in the outside garden in Summer and it was perfect. The waiters were friendly and all the food was amazing!
We had the pesto tortellini, gnocchi, cod fish, stuffed zucchini and finished with their chef’s tiramisu and coffee ice cream!

After dozens of minutes waiting for a parking spot at the main parking lot down the hill, we arrived in Cortona quite late and hungry. The Osteria del Teatro attracted us immediately with its nice outdoor setting and the beautiful plates on the tables. We were greeted warmly and got a table right away. The meal was exceptional, really really tasty, at a very reasonable price! A very nice night at a top notch restaurant, where everything is being made the right way… thank you…

Like all Italian restaurants in Cortona, del Teatro opens only for lunch and dinner. We were there at 1900, without reservation and regardless the fact, that the place opens at 1930, they welcomed us and we received a lovely table. The overall experience was great and we had interesting and tasty dishes and wines, served by a wonderful man, named Giacomo. He was very patient with us, regardless our early visit and "ignorance" regarding the menu, size and taste of the dishes, because me and my wife, we are Bulgarians. His knowledge about the wine selection was very helpful and by serving them with a smile, made us fill at home! We will be back!

We really loved our lunch at Osteria del teatro. The place is beautiful, the service was really professional and the food was fantastic. It’s a great place to stop by if you are in the area.

The food here was fantastic. I ordered the pesto paste and then the duck leg. Both were amazing and tasted great. The pistachio ice cream I had for dessert was also great.

Best restaurant we have been in Italy! We came about 2 years ago and we are repeating on this trip (2days in a row). True Italian flavors, great wine list and reasonable prices for the stunning quality- The are nice enough to divide the plates you want to share (as on the photos) - service is very nice and happy to help. Highly recommended

Wonderful experience!!! Second to the best meal we have had in Italy. The restaurant is inventive but still keep the original recipe. The waitress told us the menu changes weekly. Highly highly recommend - especially the semifreddo and tiramisu!

One of the two best restaurants we have been to in the last 10 days of our trip. Dishes are beautiful, true to the taste, meaning that you can truly taste whatever is written on the menu and more.

I was at Osteria del Teatro in 1998. Yes, it's been a while. Since then, unfortunately I have not been able to return to Cortona. But I remember clearly that it was one of the best restaurant experiences of my life. The pasta with tartufo was splendid and the suggested wine made a perfect combination.

Great food and really exceptional service. Everything I would expect out of such a highly rated restaurant in Cortona. We sat outside on their front patio and had a delicious supper. Would definitely go back if we’re in town again.

Osteria del Teatro is a unique experience when visiting Tuoro. The restaurant is located in a quiet street in Cortona, close enough to the busy square the hear the sounds of the evening, but far enough for the sounds to be like background music.

The food
The food at Osteria del Teatro was outstanding. As a main course, I chose Cappelletti alla verza con tartufo a scaglie (see pictures). For dessert, I ordered their version of tiramisu (see pictures). Both courses were amazing, especially the cappelletti was deliciously done.

The restaurant
We were seated at the garden, a few meters from the main restaurant. The garden was nicely done and felt cozy. All in all, the food at the restaurant is amazing. Apart from the taste, the restaurant also distinguishes itself by serving only 'slow food' and locally produced ingredients.

Absolutely stunning! The best pici al ragu we have ever had! And these desserts come from a different world! 😍😍😍
