Ristorante Il Cacciatore

I wanted lamb one night and the hotel reception recommended this restaurant. Just around the corner from the central plaza of cortona, we found the restaurant tucked away. The apps were great but the when the main course came, the lamb was so fresh and so properly prepared, I wish I had ordered more. It was juicy, tender and cooked to perfection and the lemon juice on top just added the slightest kick to it. We enjoyed their outdoor seating very much because we could hear music from the main square.

Here they have a fondue starter! That’s so great, our kids had an opportunity to try fondue without us planning it and making a reservation two days before our dinner :)

One of our favourite places to eat during our short stay in Tuscany. Particularly on the terrace, watching the world go by. The staff were friendly and professional and the food was great too. Good sunset down the street as well!

Highly recommend. Great restaurant for coeliacs as they had plenty of gluten free options. We shared two dishes bruschetta and tagliatelle pasta (best gf pasta i've ever had). Service was great and very cute seating on street.

While walking in Cortona looking for a restaurant, an elderly lady offered to take us to Il Cacciatore, boy were we lucky.

The food was absolutely exquisite, the dishes were authenticly Tuscan and the staff helped us pair them with delicious regional wines. We knew we had found a gem when locals kept coming in for orders to go.

Ate one of the best rib eyes in my entire life, from a wild boar, after seeing two local tables order it, the pasta was perfect and the entrees devine.

As if it wasn't enough, the service was friendly and the atmosphere welcoming, so welcoming in fact that we felt like regulars. Sat talking for a half hour after the meal, it was a perfect ending to a wonderful day.

Do yourself a favor and find the Il Cacciatore.

My daughter and I had a lovely lunch here on a day trip to Cortona. We were especially looking for somewhere with gluten free options as my daughter has celiac disease. This was the best option we have so far found in Italy. What a well run ristorante with such helpful and accommodating staff. The waitress explained the options carefully, the food was fresh and delicious and they were happy for us to share two primi piatti, which was enough for lunch for us. I would highly recommend for anyone, but especially for those looking for gf options

Very good Tuscan restaurant in the heart of Cortona

Great service, staff paid particular attention to our dog to make sure it was comfortable. Both food and wine was magnificent. We couldn't have been made more welcome and we're going back there tomorrow night!

A really nice place to visit for dinner. They are letting anyone reserve the outside tables in advance which is great for a random tourist like myself.

They have a great selection of wines.
And worth to mention also local artisan beer as the one in my picture.

The gnocchi tartufo was just 😍, love it! Worth trying out.

Beautiful cozy restaurant/ the staff is so kind the food is wonderful

Lovely evening at this restaurant. Sat upstairs which has a nice atmosphere. Very friendly and attentive staff with good ability to communicate in English. Can highly recommend the mixed bruschettas. Had a lovely deer ravioli. The boar and the pasta alla carbonara were also appreciated by the other guests. The lemon mousse desert was very nice if you prefer not too sweet. Great restaurant in Cortona.

Do not and I repeat do not leave Cortona without stopping in Il Cacciatore. The food, the wine and the service are sempre fantastico. You have to try the zucchini appetizer as the freshness and flavors of this dish will explode in your month. The pasta, salads, soups and meats are all delicious. Don't shy away from the wild boar as it's slow cooked, very tender and full of flavor.

Had a lovely lunch here. The service was great and my wife said the veal was the best she'd tasted.

Excellent food. The duck breast is hilarious. Very good vine. The prices are fully adequate to the outstanding quality. Recommended.

Both times in we ate at the restaurant the experience was an explosion of flavors and a balance of their combination!

A magnificent restaurant in very(!) cosy surroundings in beautiful Cortona, - what a location. The service was very kind, attentive and helpful - and flexible, if you had special requests to the food. The food was absolutely magnificent, the menu was just the right size to show high quality - and the wine list shows you the best, Tuscany offers. A definite must-visit again!

Very tasty, nice atmosphere - we didn’t dig deep in the menu as we were looking just for a snack.

Food was delicious! They were very cordial and it was a busy night! We were late and yet they accepted us! Good vegetarian options as well!!
